If you were given the chance to rid the world permanently of 10 songs what would they be?

Rules:

10 titles only
No any or all songs by (insert artist here)
Titles can be from any genre but must be songs that everyone should know

How this song made it to number 7 in the Top 40, I have no idea, but I would like to take every copy of Cheap Tricks, I Want You To Want Me, pile them up and watch em go up in flames. I cringe whenever I here this song on the radio, and quickly change the station.

I cringe when I hear it also but not because I don't like it. I like the song but the so-called classic rock stations in this market seem to think it's the only thing they ever recorded. The only other songs you ever hear are "Surrender" and "The Flame" but it's rare when you do.

That depends on where you live, I've never heard that song on any station in this market but that doesn't mean they've never played it.

strange because most of the classic rock stations in new york play "dream police" if they are doing a cheap trick rock block. they play a lot of def leppard too. i'm so sick of hearing "photograph." i loved that song about 30 years ago.

I know what you're sayin, but I never liked the song when it first came out, and it makes it worst when they play it on the radio every day.

How about UB40's Red, Red Wine? I absolutely abhor that song. Every time it comes on the radio, I change the channel. I can't explain why I hate the song, but it just grates on my last nerve. If I ever hear the song again, it will be too soon.

I like Dream Police and Gonna Raise Hell by Cheap Trick, both are cool songs. But I dont hear either one on our Classic Rock station in Nashville.

New York is one thing, North Carolina is another. Cheap Trick is only one example though. Many artists are limited to only a select few songs and this is because their alleged surveys and demographics dictate that these are the one's people want to hear. The only time you're likely to hear anything other than "I Want You to Want Me" in this market is on two-for Tuesday.

Elton John's "Circle of Life". Just the thought if hearing him warbling that pathetic, cringe-worthy funeral march of a song, it just underlines how very much he is past his pre-1985 prime.

She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy by Kenny Chesney. Everytime I hear it I change the title to I Think This Song Is Stupid. I can't believe this was the song that made him famous and my local country station plays this at least once a day. ohno:

To me, "How Forever Feels" is the song that really put him on the map which went to radio earlier the same year that the tractor song got released.. :) :) :)

God bless you and him always!!! :) :) :)

I've decided that one song is too strict because there is a lot of pathetic music out there that needs to be eliminated. I'm updating the thread title to Rid the World of 10 songs.

^^^ For me that is still not enough. How many out there are done by Carrie Underwood and the Dixie Chicks anyway?

God bless you always!!! :) :) :)

Show Me the Way by Peter Frampton. I remember the defunct Arrow 93.1 in Los Angeles, would abuse the hell out of that song, more than any other, like there was no tomorrow.

While many people can't stand LMFAO's big hits Party Rock and Sexy and I Know It, they're like Beethoven compared to the piece of crap that is Shots:

And here's Stupid Hoe by Nicki Minaj, which apparently was written by a six year-old with a potty mouth. I can tolerate a lot of crap, I like some of Ke$ha's songs to prove it, but this is garbage.

I used to like "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner when I was in my teens, but it soon got to be a little too "machismo" (yeah, I know, funny coming from me, the Metal Dude). But I could NEVER stand "Headknocker", because I HATED all those macho uber-Alpha Males that terrorized me in high school and thought they were all that. Yeah, that was about 35 years ago.
