Casey-Werner strike again!

I was in Best Buy today and I was in the TV Section looking at the DVD's and I came across The Cosby Show Season 1 DVD, It had the same Cover Art but the Packing was different(A lot like season 2 Packaging) I was looking at it even so I had it already because it look different then the Original Season 1 DVD that were edited(in 2005 by Urbanworks). I look at the back of the DVD and to my Surprise it was The UNEDITED Original Network Episodes as they aired in their original run on NBC and not the Edited Episodes that air in syndication on TV Land!

1. it had different Bonus features, A lot of them were the same from the original Season 1 DVD released in 2005(Including the Look Back) but it had some new Features on it.
2. This is what caught my eye, DELETED SCENES and ADDITIONAL FOOTAGE! Yep you heard that Right!
3. And then this next thing that got my attention was the fact that it was 575 Minutes when the original season 1 DVD that was released in 2005 was 528 Minutes! The copyright date on it was 2011 and it Publishing company was Millennium Entertainment. the Original season 1 DVD was relased in 2-05 by Urbanworks.

Urbanworks released season 1 and 2 (Season 1 as we know was the edited versions and they fixed season 2 to be Unedited) First Look Home Entertainment was the one who released Season 3-7 including the 25th Anniversary Edison that had the Original Network Run Unedited Season 1 Episodes before it folded in 2010 and became Millennium Entertainment. Millennium Entertainment then secretly without telling us and thought they were being sneaky(Which I don't Understand!?) decided to realise Season 1 Unedited with the same cover art and expected Fans to know that it was Unedited when 7 Years before it was Edited. D*M YOU Millennium Entertainment!!! So now I bought the complete Cosby show boxset(I bought it in 2009 before that I already bought all the other Seasons DVD in the single package) just so I could have season 1 Unedited and you turn around and do this!

This set was quietly re-released in 2011 with the original, uncut episodes. This edition from Millennium Entertainment includes the Look Back special, along with a Bloopers and Outtakes special. It even includes the interviews Bill did for the 25th anniversary boxset that's now out of print. Hopefully Amazon has this one in stock, because it's an essential purchase for Cosby fans.

So is there a way to purchase this? And I have several NBC eps of the show from season 1 so I would be able to compare and see if they are really uncut

Also if you click on the photo of the back cover of the DVD case if you look extremely closely you can make out 575 minutes at the bottom of the DVD case.

I have the 2011 release and it says 575 minutes. But you'll know if it is a different version because the copyright says 2011. Its unedited on the 2011 version because the episodes run over 24 mins with the occasional episode thats over 23 mins. The only one on Amazon for Season 1 is the one that says 2005 and Urban Works, which is supposedly the edited version. I'm weary of taking a gamble on that. I live on top of a Best Buy. I went to the Best Buy site however and it still says 2005 and Urban Works. If the 2011 version is not on the BB site, I'd surmise that it won't be in the actual store either, but that is something I'd have to check out. There is no way in hell I'm getting the cut episodes. I wanted to get the Cosby Show DVDs piece by piece instead of getting all 8 seasons at once. I heard that if you get the entire box set that you can get Season 1's episodes uncut though. But it looks like there are 2 versions of the boxed sets - one is the "complete series" and the other is the 25th Anniversary Commemorative Edition, so I wouldn't know if Season 1 is unedited in both boxed set versions.

Are the rest of the seasons uncut, no matter which version?

And I agree I would not buy the whole set just to see a unedited season 1

So far I've gone to Meijer, Best Buy, and Barnes and Noble, but to no avail. All their versions are 2005. I haven't given up but I'm about to. Given the possibility that one day I'll probably end up getting all 8 seasons for "completist" purposes anyway, I'm contemplating the purchase of the entire set.

It's just that...if some of the individual season DVDs have extras in them, do we lose those extras if we get the whole box set?

I understand that there are 2 versions of boxed sets too. One is the "complete" series, where the other is the 25th anniversary edition. Do both boxed sets contain the unedited versions of season 1?

Given the possibility that one day I'll probably end up getting all 8 seasons for "completist" purposes anyway, I'm contemplating the purchase of the entire set.

It's just that...if some of the individual season DVDs have extras in them, do we lose those extras if we get the whole box set?

I understand that there are 2 versions of boxed sets too. One is the "complete" series, where the other is the 25th anniversary edition. Do both boxed sets contain the unedited versions of season 1?

If you have a credit card I would just say get the complete set off your card and pay it off later

I think I'm going with the complete set route too, because as I said, eventually I'm going to want all 8 seasons anyway, no matter whether or not I feel certain seasons were lacking.

I just want to make sure if anyone knows (this board isn't very populated though, so I have no idea if I can get this verified) if both these boxed sets have the uncut versions for season 1. I heard that the 25th anniversary edition has performance problems though.

on the other hand, if you buy all 8 seasons individually, wouldn't that be almost more money than if you buy the box set?

I don't think so since it's 2013. All those seasons are cheaper now and not the price they were in 2005/2006

oh ok. that makes sense.

I just wish I could get some verification...maybe you know.

In the event I want to get the boxed set instead, does ANYONE know here (sorry, I already asked but I feel I have to ask again) if EITHER boxed set has the uncut season 1, or just the commemorative 25th anniversary edition? on Amazon the latter apparently has performance issues and I don't want to hazard it.

The latter had problems because of the way the disks are placed in the casing. They were loose and got scratched and some report some kind of black ink on them.

Check on Amazon to see if buying them separately is cheaper or buying the whole anniversary collection. Walmart had season 1 for $9.96. You might check on Walmart.com too for the rest of seasons and their price.

almost no one is around to see this post but I'll say it anyway -

I've been watching the Cosby Show too much lately (recording a ton of sample episodes on DVR) and I got saturated with it to the point of losing interest in it...:(

has this happened to anyone here? ugh.

I take my spells with TCS. It's a good show but it can get old quickly. I was able to buy the unedited season 1 set months ago but I haven't watched it yet.

I finally made it to Walmart today and I found Season 1.

It is copyrighted 2011 by Carsey-Warner and distributed by Millenium Entertainment.

On the back it lists special features:
-90 minutes of classic Cosby Show footage
- Deleted Scenes
- Bloopers
- Audition Footage
- Celebrity guest appearances
- Cosby cast member retrospectives

Judging by what has been said here, I seem to have the right one. I hope I do. It's unopened for now. It doesn't say point blank though that the episodes are uncut. Is it supposed to say this?

You have the right one! The Millenium Entertainment version is the unedited episodes. I've seen the pilot episode already and its over 23 compared to the edited version of 21 minutes.

I don't know if anyone will see this, but man am I ever disappointed with the DVD I got at Walmart (Season 1 by Millennium Entertainment). I'm not disappointed with the content of the episodes - I knew what they were already. I'm so disappointed in the format. I'll explain.

The screen resolution is HORRID. The lighting is terrible. The Huxtable's front door and walls are so bright looking that it is almost like looking at light bulbs. Any light-colored object is fair game. If Cliff is wearing light pants and resting against the light sofa, I wouldn't be able to see his legs on it, for example. Denise, who is undoubtedly light-skinned, is glowing in a really painful way.

I tried to adjust the picture mode, which adjusts the level of lightness/darkness mix for the colors in the picture. But to no avail.

Gee, when I DVR it, it doesn't look like THAT. I'm wondering if it's my DVR player or something. I'm really dismayed about this, big time.

I know some people like the Play All feature and that's fine and dandy if you do but I also like seeing a list of the episodes and being able to choose from the list, and I don't get that option, unfortunately. I can deal with that, I guess; that's nothing compared to the screen resolution problem.

Has anyone had a similar problem with this? I have to admit that I was eager to get more Cosby Show seasons on DVD but man...this is NOT what it was supposed to look like. Don't get me wrong, there is some visibility but anything beige or white? Ugh it's a sight for sore eyes.

Maybe it's called Millennium Entertainment because once you buy something from them, it will be a thousand years before you ever want to buy anything else from them (just kidding).

I was so ready to order a couple more seasons. But I don't know now. I loved the unedited versions of Season 1 and I was excited for this.

I'm not sure what you bought because my copy of the unedited season 1 looks fine and it has the episodes listed on the menu so you can choose which episode you want to watch OR hit play all to play all of them at the same time.

well guess what - it must be the DVD player. I put my DVD in my laptop's CD-ROM and it DOES do everything you mentioned. The only problem is that the picture doesn't move smoothly. Maybe it's my computer's fault. That might mean I need to get a different DVD player or something. I'm not sure why my DVD player would be doing this, though, but the CD-ROM in my computer shows a clear picture and the menu you are talking about.

that's the whole problem TVFactFan. My DVD player that is connected to my TV was the one that gave the show those terrible resolution problems and did not show the menu correctly.

But when I put it on the computer's DVD player (it's a CD and DVD ROM), it worked, except that the picture isn't moving smoothly. My only conclusion I can draw is that my TV's DVD player is the cause of screen resolution problem.

Watching on the computer is not as fun to me, I like using the TV. LOL.
