In addition to Bobby Sherman's show, The Partridge Family had an animated spin-off or sequel, The Partridge Family: 2200 A.D. An episode of this is included on the season 1 DVD. It's horrible! I would have much rather had a 5th season of the actual show than this dreck of a sequel.

Actually, I very much like the theme song to "Getting Together", the Bobby Sherman spin-off to which you refer. It was catchy upbeat and memorable.

I do not know that I would call it a spin off or a sequel, but Hanna Barbera produced many cartoon shows based on prime time sitcoms. These types of cartoons also include I dream of Jeannie, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy and perhaps some others.

I am with you though, the PF cartoon is dreadful.

I've recently been re-watching my Partridge Family DVD's and watched the Partridge Family 2200 episodes to which you referred. (The season one set includes two Partridge Family 2200 eps. One on disc 1 and one on disc 3) I couldn't believe how poorly written and cheaply produced these eps were. Hard to beleive they were made by the same people responsible for The Flintstones anf The Jetsons!

None of the characters in the cartoon even resembled the characters on the TV show. I think the cartoon was originally supposed to be a remake of 'The Jetsons' with Elroy as a teenager.

I always kind of wanted to see 'Getting Together'.

Yes, that cartoon was a stinker with 'Keith' being taller, with shorter hair and a squarer chin than David Cassidy had. No wonder Mr. Cassidy wanted no part of this (and I'll bet Miss Jones decided to pass) but what's odd is that Susan Dey DID voice Laurie the first two episodes before bailing. Since nothing else was picking up for her careerwise at the time, I wonder why she parted ways from it so soon. Her vocal role was taken over by onetime Mousekateer and
'Alexandra' of "Josie and the Pussycats" -Sherri Alberoni. While Laurie remained stubborn and undaunted by her three brothers, at least she wasn't a mean, backbiting, self-important . .pain like Alexandra. Oh, and Danny Bonaduce,Brian Forster and Susan Crough all DID voice their roles as the youngest three Partridge kids to the very end. Ironically, by having the family have unexplained teen alien besties, this futuristic Jetsons ripoff WAS more diverse than the original series .

There was one episode 'Cousin Sunspot' in which they had a hick cousin from Tennessee and his singing chicken along for the 'fun' - but the one positive thing about this episode was that Shirley clarified that Sunspot was 'Daddy's favorite aunt's son'. IOW, someone from the late Mr. Partridge's side of the family which the original series NEVER had any hints of (of course, he never uttered his late cousin's given name much less mentioned him while visiting his widow and children).

Actually, I just watched an episode of PF last week with a full cast of black characters, I think it may have been a pilot for a Richard Pryor series.

My bad, I'll change it. Still, you have to admit that being friends with alien lifeforms is being more diverse than being friends with human minorities!
