View Full Version : Do You Get Sick Of Your Job Sometimes?

I know I do with my one job. I kind of discussed what my job was like in another post, but I will give a little description again. I do dishes at this one pizza place. Well tonight when I got there, there was a big pile of dishes. (This is not the only time this has happened and I guarantee it wont be the last time either.) They dont have a daytime dish washer so the ones that are there during the day are supposed to do them. (Half of the time they are too lazy to do so, but there are a few good ones that try to keep them done up for me if they are not busy.) It gets so frustrating when I am there busting my ass and they have these delivery drivers that stand around and do nothing. I could get the dishes done alot faster if I didnt have to pre-scrub the hell out of the dishes before hand (the dishwashing machine is a piece of crap and real old- the owner would probably buy a new one when cows give Pepsi). Also, the hot water tank is older than the hills and about to **** the bed. The pilot goes out on it alot and you end up doing dishes in cold water till they get it re-lit. Alot of the co-workers there have some shady reputations due to their drug usage. I can tell (especially with some of the deilvery drivers) when they come in high on drugs. I dont want to sound like I am complaining, I am just doing a little venting. Believe me, if you seen first hand what went on there and what they have you do, it would gross you out. One thing they have us do is dry the dishes with a towel because the machine does not do that. I find that unsanitary and in this one demo video on YouTube about dishwashing procedures, they say, NEVER DRY DISHES WITH A TOWEL OR RAG.

I am beyond sick of mine but I won't go into any details about what I do and so forth, except to say that I work in a call center. I've been there for 11 years (this December) and I've been doing essentially the same job since 1998 (3 years at another company). I got my previous job after going through a worker retraining program at a then-community college (it's now a four year college) and I was hoping that eventually I would move onto bigger and better things. Unfortunately I've been stuck in this same situation forever. I like what I do for the most part but it's gotten really really old. And it's extremely frustrating to even think about looking for another job. I don't really know what other kind of work I could do.

Yeah, I'm pretty sick of my job and I clean the store. I have to admit, sometimes I don't think I'm fast enough to clean in 2 hours even though I have a co worker who suggests to me that you can't do everything in 2 hours. He also does cleaning twice a week but also doe shipment as well.

I am just tired of the job and plus I have been there too long. Sometimes I feel like somethings I have to do, I think the person in the fitting room or registers can do it. Like the trash for the registers or keeping it cleared off, cashiers can do that or the table in the FR, fr person can do that.

I am grateful to have work because I like working. (I have 2 jobs, the pizza place being one of them). Sometimes, you need to do a little venting to let your frustrations out. I tend to be an easy going person most of the time. This one lady I work with also has a second job as a waitress at another restaurant. She was telling me recently that the waitresses there have to do their own dishes plus wait on their own tables. I was like, "how on earth do you keep up with it all?" She said the owner/boss every ten minutes or so will say, "your dishes are piling up!"

To WATERSTON FAN, I know the feeling all too well of what your going through about getting everything cleaned up within a miniscule amount of time. They do that with me at my other job. I do the best I can and if I am n ot finished in time, I change the time sheet. Hey, things have to be done right and we are not at Superman speed.

Hell yes...I get interrupted more than once on my job. Even though that's what a custodian/janitor is supposed to get...I just get it a lot, I'm even sick of my boss riding me like there's no tomorrow...he rides the secretaries there too. And to top it all off...I work at a Church, but it's so...unchurchy and it rubbed to me on a stranger who I gave lip.

I work two jobs. I work at a independent record store and love that. My second job is overnights at a gas station. Its not bad, been there for about a month, but I get tired of it at times. Dont really like working overnights, but with my other job and school, that time fits my schedule, but I gotta pay the bills. I wish I could find a job that I could make a living off things I enjoy doing, and other times I wish I could retire.

Its life, we all have to deal with it.

Yes I get very tired of it & I also work 2 jobs. I work midnight shift at a factory where I used to get a full 40 hour week plus overtime, now we do good to get a 40 hour week twice a month & there is no overtime. The job isn't hard and we have very little supervision so half the workers goof off which leads to a low production rate. And that makes the rest of us look bad. Then on weekends I work part-time as a waitress and it's not too bad until you get a few rude customers. But you're supposed to smile & keep doing your job.

I know everybody gets sick of their jobs but take it from somebody who knows - be lucky you have a job. I know it sounds cliche, but I have applied to at least 100 jobs in the past few months, only to hear NOTHING!!! Or when I do check up on my applications, they say Oh we have a full staff. What's really sad is I just applied at a place that I worked at for 6 years for the same job that I was doing, they advertised it on Craigslist. You think I heard back from them??? Nope!!! I'm wondering with ALL the experience I have and the hard worker I am, what am I doing wrong? And who is getting hired in my place?? A person who apparently is a better candidate?? I'm not even being called for interviews. I mean if I was even considered for a job to be brought in for an interview, that wouldn't be as bad, but I hear nothing. I'm even sending resumes off the entry level/minimum wage jobs. Are they serious???? Back in the day, resumes were for management and high paying jobs!!!!

I have found that many people are not happy with what they do for a living and would love to leave but they have nowhere to go. Jobs are becoming so scarce that people are going to have to start working harder to keep theirs. I drive over the road for 4 weeks at a time and make great money. I have to say, I really love the job. Getting to see America and being paid for it, but then again, I have no obligations to stay home. My only daughter is 21 and out of the house and so I can go out and stay out as long as I want. I get to go out to eat everyday and also have the money to buy new things if I need them. I am also a writer and would love to do that full time, and would quit my current job if I could. If I can release a hit, I will do that one day.

Hey, Dutchman, I drove over the road for 11 years, and yes, it is great money. I wish I could get back into it, but right now I'm having a legal issue with my CDL and I don't know when it will be resolved. Long story that I rather not get into. All the times I'd hear truck drivers complain about their jobs, I feel like saying "You don't know how good you got it" The thing that gets me is one of the few industries that is hiring is the trucking industry!!! An industry that I can't even get back into. I get letters and emails all the time from trucking companies wanting me to sign on with them. I WOULD LOVE TO!!!! I'm so sick of not having money, something I never really had to worry about when I was in trucking. I've been trying for months to find a full time job, I bet if I can finally get back into trucking, a company would have me hired in less than a week!!!!

   I can totally relate!

But in all seriousness I do like my job for the most part. It's just the politics and rules of the company and the management. I do feel for those people who don't have a job at all and who have been having a hard time finding one. Believe me, I've been there! And I also admire those who work more than one job b/c that is hard! Ive done it many times and it's so stressful! But in a way it's kind of rewarding. A couple of years ago I worked at JC Penney for six months and actually it was so stressful there sometimes that it made my "real" job seem not so bad and it was refreshing to go back to work on Monday morning after working that retail job on Saturday/Sunday!

Where are you at? My boss is hiring right now. He needs drivers for a sprinter van and he also has a straight truck. These do not require a CDL. He pays 30 cents a mile and he has been running me pretty good. It's still 3 to 4 weeks OTR, you can put a cot in the van to sleep in, unless you drive the straight truck. Then it has a bed in it. You can make anywhere from $600 a week to $850 a week and even as much as much as $1100 a week when its busy. You are not limited to the hours of service rule in these vehicles like the big trucks, so you can drive 15 to 18 hours.

You don't work for Try Hours out of Maumee, OH, do you?? Alot of their fleet is straight trucks and sprinters. I worked for them for all of 2 months but they pissed me off because they never gave me enough loads. When they did dispatch me, I would deliver a load, then sit all day or 2 waiting for another load. I would get mad at dispatch for leaving me sit. Then one of the bosses texted me telling me not to make dispatch mad, that only makes you sit longer. Oh really now?? Just because I want to work, and not sit at a truck stop for days on end. To make things even worse, they left me sitting in NC on Dec.23rd. I live in FL. I wanted to get home for Christmas. It wasn't bad enough that I didn't get home for Christmas, the worse part about that was that nobody even bothered to call and tell me they couldn't get me home. They all just went home. This was a few years ago when Christmas was on a Sat. and nobody was coming back to work until Mon. So everybody there got to spend the holiday weekend with their families and didn't give a crap about their drivers. I didn't even get a Christmas bonus for being out on the road during Christmas like I did with the other company I worked for.

I live in Central Fla., BTW, who do you work for?
