I bought some Nike socks several months ago for $20 per package. (I think there was 2 or 4 pair per package.) Allready, some of the socks are gettting holes/wearing down in some spots. I was also at the store recently and felt some of the shirts made by Adidas, Nike, etc. I could not believe how thin they were! I mean I know they were probably summer shirts, but these were thin even for summer. I also felt some of the winter shirts recently and they were thin also. A while back, I bought some Levi's on sale (I was not going to pay the $50 full price). They feel like they are paper thin. I have also seen documentary after documentary on how some of these clothing companies have sweat shops to make their products. They say the material is only worth $5 and we are paying $95 for them! In our shoe store recently (The Shoe Department), I noticed alot of the shoes were made in Vietnam, China, Brazil and Indonesia. The inside soles you could easily tare out and even see with your own eyes that they are not fully attached to the inside of the shoe (thats how bad the glue job is). Its infuriating because we are paying so much money for this clothing and shoes and it gets made so ****ty.

The only way I'll purchase anything made by Nike, Levi's , etc... is at a thrift store such as Goodwill. I can get pants and shoes there for $5 a pair and other items as well. I actually prefer Faded Glory jeans to Levi's but I don't see those at Goodwill often or at least not in my size. I haven't paid retail price for clothes in over 20 years except for socks and underwear because I'm not paying full price for name-brand items and in most cases that is all your paying for, the name brand and that doesn't always mean better quality especially the way some things are cheaply made these days. This is another reason why I shop at discount grocery chains such as Aldi. The majority of their products are not name brands but are just as good as those that are and also much cheaper.

Ya I can say myself stuff they make now is complete crap........ Clingly material .... Horrible compated to what it used to be.....

I wear the same clothes alot because I cant find anything thats feels good that I like.....

I have also noticed this with clothing today and what I think is going on is that the clothing is not what it used to be. Take for example my mom used to buy her clothing like her shirts and nightgowns from Victoria's Secret and if you wear the shirt or nightgown for a few months then wash it they develop holes and I can't figure it out and I think Victoria's Secret is making their clothing cheap nowadays. My mother used to shop Lane Bryant because they had great clothing that lasted a long time and she is a Macy's fan too and Mom never has a problem with Macy's clothes. Even when I go clothes shopping I always go shopping at good places but recently before they went bankrupt I would go to Kmart and I noticed that on some of the clothing Kmart had would fade and bleed color and it surprised me because Kmart clothing was number one. But if you go to any discount store like Ross Dress For Less Marshall's or TJ Maxx you see shelf after shelf of clothing by brands such as Baby Phat Tommy Hilfiger Rocawear Guess and other brands they will usually go on clearance because hardly nobody buys the clothing because they are afraid that the clothing might fall apart. And the same thing with jeans and shoes. Because jeans are simple to find and shoes are easy to find as well because people will often wear shoes and sneakers every so often and when a pair wears out they buy another pair. Take for example when Converse shoes came out Converse shoes were well made and they would last long but if you look at brands like Nike and Adidas and Reebok the shoes and sneakers are not made very well today and Reebok was the number one shoe brand of sports stars and everyone you saw wore Reeboks. But I think as time goes by we will see clothing be made even better and well done as the future goes on

This thread is soo true. Even landmark brands such as Hanes seem to be going to pieces sooner rather than later.

I was thinking "$20 for 4 pair of socks? that's insane" But then on top of it just a year later they are worn out, with holes, "stringies" inside that catch my toes, and failing elasticity.

I bought a 6 pack of colored Tees at Walmart recently, not expecting a lot. But one of the seams attaching the sleeve to the trunk was already separated coming out of the package.

No quality control, whatsoever.

It's a disposable world we live in and no quality and when things break down, throw them away and buy new ones. I've been darning socks lately, I buy Buster Brown socks, thinner cotton ones, and yes Made In China.

I think it's a result of a general overall trend, where large corporations prioritize their stockholders interests over those of their customers and employees.

I'll save a penetrating probe for the political forum, except to say here that I think "pride of ownership" pretty much evaporates on Wall Street.
