"Smallville" Alum Lands "Haven" Arc
by Matt Webb Mitovich and Megan Masters
August 30, 2012

"Smallville" alum Laura Vandervoort has landed a "Haven"-ly gig, booking a double-episode arc on the Syfy series.

In the 12th and 13th episodes of Season 3 (premiering Friday, Sept. 21 at 10/9c), Vandervoort will play a highly intelligent and (duh) beautiful woman who has returned to Haven for the latest cycle of Trouble.

Alas, her visit isn’t a peaceful one; rather, she is driven to the brink of madness by the loss of a loved one.

She'll make a nice addition to the show. I also thought she was pretty good on that show V.

Syfy Pulls Friday's "Haven" in Wake of Newtown Elementary School Shooting
by Michael Ausiello
12/14/12

An episode of Syfy’s "Haven" dealing with fictitious violence at a high school scheduled to air tonight has been pulled from the schedule in the wake of this morning’s shocking mass shooting at a Newtown, Conn. elementary school.

“In light of today’s tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, we have decided not to air it,” the network said in a statement. “At this time, no decision has been made as to when the episode will air.”

Laura Vandervoort, who was to kick off a two-episode arc tonight as James Cogan’s vengeful wife, commends Syfy’s call, which she played a role in making.

“There’s a fine line between our art of evoking emotions in others, portraying tainted, troubled and broken characters, and reality,” the "Smallville" alum tells TVLine. “I feel immense pain and sympathy for the families and children in Newtown and couldn’t bear the thought of the images in tonight’s episode upsetting people.”

And as a character who at one point in the episode walks a high school’s halls carrying a gun, “I couldn’t stomach it,” she shares. “I’m proud of Haven and Syfy for making the decision they did.”

i think they made the right decision - obviously - but it would have been nice if they had made an announcement at the beginning of the show or at least mentioned it on air

I ended up with one of the Christmas episodes of Eureka on my dvd-r with no idea what had happened

^ Same here. It had Haven listed on the On-Screen guide, so I set it to record & then when I went to watch it Saturday there was Eureka.
I understand now why they didn't air it though. Wonder if it will be aired at a later date or will they just skip it?

"Haven" Episode Pulled Following Sandy Hook Shooting Rescheduled for Jan. 17
by NELLIE ANDREEVA
Tuesday December 18, 2012

Syfy on Friday decided to pre-empt the penultimate episode of drama "Haven‘s" third season, which had been scheduled for that night, after the deadly shooting at Connecticut’s Sandy Hook Elementary School that claimed the lives of 26 people, including 20 first-graders.

Now the episode has been rescheduled, along with the show’s Season 3 finale.

Here is the network’s statement:

Last Friday’s 10PM episode of "Haven" contained scenes of fictitious violence in a high school setting and in light of the recent tragedy, we have decided to reschedule it along with the series’ season three finale, originally slated to air this Friday, December 21st at 10PM.

The final two episodes of season three of "Haven" will now air back-to-back on Thursday, January 17th from 8-10 PM (ET/PT) to maintain the integrity of the series’ serialized nature.
