OK, so I was watching a YouTube video of Alan Thicke performing his original composition Sweaty & Hot for the 1988 Crystal Light Aerobic Championship.
As many of you know, in addition to starring on TVs Growing Pains, Alan is also an adept songwriter, as demonstrated via various TV theme songs such as Diffrent Strokes & The Facts of Life to name 2 examples; in addition, at age 27, Alan also wrote the original theme to the network Wheel of Fortune, titled Big Wheels, used until the series went into nighttime syndication in 1983, after which the original Merv Griffin composition, Changing Keys, was used.
Alan Thicke was born Alan Jeffrey on March 1, 1947 in Kirkland Lake, Canada.
After his biological father, Bill Jeffrey, left the family when Alan was very young, his mother, Mary, rekindled a romance with an old flame, Dr. Brian Thicke, a flight Physician who she eventually married and gave Alan a younger brother, Todd Thicke, now a writer for Vin di Bona via Vins game show masterpiece Americas Funniest Home Videos.
Dr. Brian eventually legally adopted Alan as his own son, and thus thats how Alan Jeffrey became Alan Thicke.
Alan, who turned 65 on March 1, is now seeing his son, Robin, who will turn 35 in just a few weeks (September 10, to be exact), become a famous songwriter in his own right; in addition to performing his own hit records, most notably Lost Without You, Robin has also written songs over the last decade since age 15 for singers such as Marc Anthony & Christina Aguilera.
