View Full Version : James enrolled in a "fraudulent school" and only paid for a "piece of paper"
TVFactFan 08-27-2012, 08:25 PM Just like College:lol:
If James went to this school and complete whatever course he needed to complete and received his diploma, then why the hell did the school give him the WANT ADS and a map of the city
Shouldn't the school have had some kind of connection to employers in the city of chicago???
Poor James probably took out a loan to go to that school to only get SCAMMED:lol:

I thought he got his GED. I don't think he went to a trade school. Did he go to a trade school?

It was a trade school and the only job they was able to get him was way on the other side of the country:lol:

A job that would cost money to get to. Plus why would they offer that to him knowing he was a family man and couldn't just pick up and go?

How was it going to cost him money? They were probably going to pay for his relocation. When a company is offering someone a job the HR or owner does not care if you have a family or not. When my husband was offered a job in Chicago, I went with him. His boss didn't care if he had a family  There are a lot of people who picked up their whole life and moved to another state, especially in the 30's-60's.

What if you are in the middle of a lease?
Brieannas21 08-27-2012, 11:47 PM What if you are in the middle of a lease?
You could sub-lease charge more and make a little change, have a family member live in the apartment and pay the rent, break your lease.

It's just crazy that Florida never made any effort to have a better life. She was content with having NOTHING:lol:
Another one of her dumb statements......."can't fight the economy"
So since the economy is bad you should just not even try and just remain broke:lol:

I don't think she was content, she was just old school and she wanted to be with her husband. Who wants to be apart from their spouse for a year if they didn't have too? I could see if James was in the Army and he had no other choice.
BUT I do think that Jame should have taken that job.

But even when she thought she was going to Alaska she still had no interest in leaving the projects

It's not about leaving the projects, I think it was more about the unknown. Moving to a place you've never been, where there aren't anyone you know can be scary and stressful.

That isn't the same, You can still have your kids around and feel lonely and bored. And when you have teenagers they're not gonna stay home with you to keep you company. It's always go to have friends to talk to and to hang with.

Look if the man is the only one bringing in the money and announces he has a new job and they are moving, then the wife packs up and go
I saw a similar situation on George Lopez when George got a new job and Angie didn't want to move to Colorado. How did she have any say so if he was the only source of income. she had no choice

True, if it meant more money for the entire family, Florida should have been thinking about the best interest for her kids and husband. She was a stubborn fool. It's not like she had any career that she couldn't leave behind in Chicago. James was bringing in the money, and she should have supported him.

I'm surprised she accepted the offer to move in with Keith and Thelma:lol:

Are you serious? If your wife isn't bringing in any income she doesn't have a say? Her word means nothing? I thought a marriage was a partnership and the two work out things together, I never knew that it was a dictatorship where the husband word is law. MY LORD I feel sorry for your future wife lol.
And on Lopez didn't Angie always have a job?

Angie had a business that brung in money sometimes.....when someone was getting married.
And are you saying that if the wife is not working and the husband gets a new job out of state she has the right to say she don't want to go?????????????????????????????????

People are always getting married. And she was still working and bringing money into the house.
And YES the wife has a say if she doesn't want to move if the husband get a job out of state. That is her husband not her father. You can't make an Adult do something that they do not want to do. Same goes for a woman, if the wife get a job offer that is out of state, if the husband isn't working, and he doesn't want to move you cannot make him move.

I believe you go when the MONEY is
Brieannas21 08-30-2012, 01:34 PM I believe you go when the MONEY is
I'm pretty sure that if Flo and the kids could have gone, all of them would have gone to Alaska. That would have been a great plot for the show. It would have been Hilarious.

That plot with James being in school anyway was kind of weird since it was never a episode that lead up to it. A new season starts and he is graduating from a school that was never ever mentioned:crazy:

James said that he enrolled in school at the end of the episode where Florida goes back to school.

in season 2 when James mentioned going back to school with Florida that was to get his GED,
the school he graduated from in season 3 was a trade school

But he never said that he was going to get his GED, he said that he enrolled. He was attending school during the show Hiatus LOL. The same way Thelma and JJ got their drivers licenses.

Brieanna he went to get his GED. Who the hell takes a book bag to trade school?
yayaya 09-20-2012, 04:29 PM Wasn't it mentioned in one episode that James never got passed the sixth grade? I remember in the episode where JJ wanted to pass into the 12th grade, James made it a point he wanted his son to get an education and graduate like he never did. I assume when he went back to school, it was to get his GED or at the very least, to support his wife by going to school with her and learning new things.
As for Flo leaving, she had no choice in going to Alaska. Only James could go. The way I saw it, James would go to Alaska, he would make about 4x what he was making in Chicago ($500 a week per the episode), he could have sent some of that money back home to Florida where she could have taken the kids out of the ghetto and into a better apartment where they could be safe. Or they could have moved to Florida's sister's home or somewhere near one of her relatives so the family wouldn't be "alone" as Florida put it. At the end of that episode, it was the fear of Michael being left without a father that ended up being the deal breaker, but again, that pissed me off because if James sends money home to Florida, the quicker she can get her family out of the ghetto into a better and safer place and there would be no worry about Michael getting his lavender-a$$ kicked.
I think ithe best interest of the entire family and getting out of the ghetto should override Florida's complaints about Michael being left without his dad and the amount of time they would be apart. Pro vs. Con is how I look at it. I don't see it as James not giving Florida a say-so, she certainly gave her reasons for not wanting him to go, but James was not going to make that kind of money sitting around looking at the want ads.
I don't think there is really a lease involved with the projects. People move in when someone dies or someone has made too much money to no longer qualify living there. You cannot sub-let a project apartment. They are only for those folks who qualify to live there. As for this show, why was Willona living in the projects?

I can't believe when she thought they all were going to Alaska and leaving the projects, she actually said...."I don't know if I can just pick up and move to place like Alaska"
So she was content with having NOTHING
yayaya 09-20-2012, 07:33 PM I can't believe when she thought they all were going to Alaska and leaving the projects, she actually said...."I don't know if I can just pick up and move to place like Alaska"

That's not what Florida meant when she said that. She was saying she didn't know that she could move to that particular place based on what little she knew about it.
Judging by the comment made about living in igloos, it came off as the family having a particular view of Alaska. It was nothing but snow, ice, eskimos and igloos. Back then, I pretty much had the same view. The Evans' had a distorted view due to their ignorance.
Still, all of that is pointless since Florida was not expected to move at all with James. She was upset that she was going to be left behind to tend to her family without her man. At that point, that is when I feel she was content with living in the projects and having nothing better for her family instead of thinking of the positives:
James could earn enough money to get the family OUT OF THE HOOD while he continues to make money in Alaska.
