"Parks and Rec." Exclusive: Meet Leslie's Nemesis!

Leslie Knope’s plum new city council gig comes with one major drawback: a nemesis.

TVLine has learned exclusively that comedian Jon Glaser has joined "Parks and Recreation‘s" fifth season, playing a town councilman — one of two the audience has yet to meet.

(We have in seasons past been introduced to the lecherous Councilman Dexhart and the reasonable Councilman Howser.)

"Parks" showrunner Mike Schur tells us that the longtime "Late Night with Conan O’Brien" writer’s character, a local orthodontist, “basically becomes Leslie’s nemesis. He doesn’t find her interesting or charming at all, and doesn’t care about her bright-eyed, bushy-tailed attitude toward making the town better… He just doesn’t like her.”

Knope’s new foe, as well as the other “extremely old,” Strom Thurmond-like politician, make their respective debuts in the third installment of Season 5, which bows Thursday, Sept. 20 at 9:30/8:30c.

“They’re going to be around a lot,” shares Schur. “Certainly not in every episode, but… they’ll float in and out as we need them.”

A successful sketch comedy series writer, Glaser currently stars in his own Adult Swim creation "Delocated".
