The first series was great, purely because of Ritter, the son and Peggy Bundy. Katie Cocococococo or whatever her name is really grates on my nerves and the red head wasn't much better, although a few years ago, I wanted to hit that. Badly. After Ritter had sadly passed though, it all went to hell in a handcart.
Interesting note aside, the redhead is about 30 odd now, despite playing a teen up until a few years ago.

Had Ritter not died, the show seriously might still be around. I wouldn't see ABC releasing its deathgrip on it considering that the next best comedy show they had was According to Jim.

I know they were trying to stress the coping aspect of his death in later episodes... but at a certain point it seemed they should've just changed the show's title from "8 Simple Rules.." to "If Only Dad Hadn't Died."

I actually stayed steadily entertained by the show even post-Ritter passing. C.J. and Grandpa Jim were funny characters with great chemistry in their own right. Now when Mr. Gibb started to make his way into the family; it was another matter.

I see it both ways. The show was still entertaining even when John Ritter died but a tone of the show's dynamic went when he died so the show had a direction but then at the same time, it had no direction at all if you get what I mean.
I'd say if Ritter didn't die, the show would still be on right now though.

I really enjoyed that show too but I don't think it would still be around today if John Riiter was still alive. The girls would no longer be teenagers and would probably just be ending college or something so I don't see the show still being around.

I was a way much bigger fan of the show with Ritter on there...direction of the show seemed to be more clear and funnier with Ritter around....although I did like the episode where Ed O'Neil appeared and the Bundy couple did reunite for a few minutes...show still woudlnt have been on today but it would have lasted a while longer definitely if Ritter had been around....

It was awesome. Every season was amazing, and the raw emotion in the episodes after Ritter's passing is almost unrivalled.
