"Veronica Mars" Movie: Kristen Bell Hasn't Given Up Hope
08/22/2012

Kristen Bell would still love to do a "Veronica Mars" movie, despite the hurdles that are keeping the project down.

In an interview with Vulture promoting her new movie Hit and Run, Bell said she hasn't lost hope that the beloved private eye character will be brought back to life.

"Everyone involved wants to do it, but Warner Bros. is a real stinker," Bell said. "It's a real monster of a legal system there."

Bell and fiance Dax Shephard went the independent route with Hit and Run because of the hassles she's faced in trying to get "Veronica Mars" on the big screen.

Talk of a "Veronica Mars" movie has bubbled up and down since the series ended its three-year run in 2007. The whole time, both Bell and series creator Rob Thomas have been on board.

I hope they can eventually get the rights. I doubt WB really wants them. I honestly do not know how well a movie would do. But the TV show deserved far more credit than it ever got. I rank it right up there with classics of the genre such as The Rockford Files which I do not say lightly. The writing and acting was that good, and the story arcs were always very tightly spun.

it was an excellent show that really didn't get a fair shake - I only heard about it and started to get into it halfway through the second season, and now I am addicted to it and own the whole series.

the movie (series) is a good idea and should be done - even if it means going independent, it would never be a big budget blockbuster anyways, but it could be a good movie (series) that would draw its own following.

I think the marketing was not right. I did not discover it until it hit Netflix and I am an ardent mystery show aficionado. It hooked me right off the bat. The writing on VM holds up as well as any of the best mystery shows out there. I rank it very highly.
