I'll wait for Solomon to say much he hates it before I give it my official thumbs up but so far at first glance it looks very good. The best part is having Leave It To Beaver and The Partridge Family on every day instead of on weekends and I'm thrilled with that. The best overall lineup by far is on Fridays. Now if those shows could only switch places with the Monday-Thursday primetime group, this channel would approach perfection. Sunday nights are fairly weak as well but otherwise I approve.
Rezny@gmail.com 08-20-2012, 06:14 PM Why the f**k do we not get antenna tv in Omaha!!!! Instead we get that black bounce chanel. There are not even many negroes in Omaha!

Leave it to Beaver has been on the weekday schedule--whachatalkinabout Sal?
Jude The Obscure 08-20-2012, 07:30 PM I see Rin Tin Tin is gone and so is Too Close for Comfort. Too much scheduling on Adam 12 and Dragnet--the variety has lessened. Although it is nice to see Jack Benny in a more accessible time on Friday nights.
mets82 08-20-2012, 11:18 PM Glad Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best and Bachelor Father are still on. I like those 3 shows. You know, Too Close for Comfort, Im on the fence of it leaving. I pretty much watched the whole series when it came on Antenna TV. Now, I dont even watch it.
Pavan 08-20-2012, 11:55 PM We will have the full story on tomorrow's blog.
TVFactFan 08-21-2012, 02:21 AM Good Things about the schedule
1. Three's Company in the 7pm slot
2. Maude being back on the weekdays at 8pm
3. Addition of barney miller
4. addition of benson
Bad things about the schedule
1. Good Times and Sanford and Son still on the schedule
2. The same sh*tty Friday schedule
3. Same horrible Saturday schedule
Still pleased overall but wished barney miller and benson was in the slot of good times and Sanford and son during the week
BigManMike 08-21-2012, 10:17 AM It's nice that they finally moved All in the Family and Good Times to different slots. They had been in the same time slot since the network launched. I am also glad that Maude is back on weeknights. I am very disappointed that they took off Too Close for Comfort. I am also disappointed that Barney Miller and Benson are only on Sundays and they lasted a long time, yet the Partridge Family is on all week and it didn't last very long. It will take forever to get through those new shows. I'm glad WKRP is still on in the same convenient time. Rumor has it, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie are coming in 2013.

icecream 08-21-2012, 01:36 PM The best parts of the schedule: Sunday nights are a great lineup with Barney Miller, WKRP, and Benson (wish it was switched with Soap though). Adam-12 and Dragnet getting Sunday afternoon airings, Jack Benny airing at 7PM on Fridays, Bachelor Father moving an hour later so it won't be on against Touch and the ABC comedies, McHale's Navy leaving weekday afternoons, The Partridge Family airing weeknights are all good moves. The not-so-good: Barney Miller and Benson should have gotten weekday slots, the 6PM-midnight weekday lineup sucks. Too Close for Comfort should have stayed at 11PM, Three's Company would still have the 7PM hour. I wish Hitchcock would air earlier, on Saturdays it should have switched places with It Takes a Thief.
TVFactFan 08-21-2012, 02:31 PM It's nice that they finally moved All in the Family and Good Times to different slots. I know, I wanted to sample those two shows and now it looks like that won't happen because on sundays I only watch football in the fall
jonvit69 08-21-2012, 04:07 PM will love to watch antenna tv but all tribune channels in the new york tri state area are blacked out due to a pricing fued with cablevision.we pay they take away again. would love to start a protest but how to start is the question?

damm I know that has to suck. Paying money and channels are being blacked out:o
peabodynaugie 08-21-2012, 04:14 PM Antenna needs to add more dramatic shows and give 3's Crummy a rest already. Why Benson at midnight? Thank goodness for deavers/dvrs? Dennis needs to be rested. Same goes for Good Times. I think Adam 12/Dragnet is getting shown so much because they are going to METV in 2013. I wish Antenna would add half dozen tv series and sprinkle them throughout the schedule not just on Sundays.
icecream 08-21-2012, 04:18 PM On Labor Day Antenna TV is airing a 24 hour marathon of Jerry Lewis movies starting at 5AM.
icecream 08-21-2012, 04:21 PM I think Adam 12/Dragnet is getting shown so much because they are going to METV in 2013.I really hope that's not true as I don't get Me-TV. :(
peabodynaugie 08-21-2012, 04:41 PM I don't get METV either. I switched to FIOS a month ago and discovered LOTS of rerun channels Cablevision never carried. Now the dopes dropped Antenna. I'm glad I switched.

Also they need to revamp that sh*tty saturday schedule
rcbrad 08-21-2012, 08:33 PM "Just the facts, ma'am":
Out of the 168 hours in a week, 54 hours (32%) will be devoted to 27 (not necessarily different) "Antenna TV Theater" movies.
16 episodes of Three's Company (The Ropers/Three's a Crowd) will make up 8 hours.
14 episodes each of Adam-12, Dragnet, & The Partridge Family account each for 7 hours a week.
In summary, movies and 4 shows account for almost half (49.4%, 83 out of 168 hours) of the weekly programming!
The rest of the weekly breakdown includes:
6 hours each of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Dennis the Menace, Father Knows Best, & Leave It to Beaver;
5 hours each of All in the Family, Good Times, Hazel, Maude, Sanford and Son, The Burns and Allen Show, & The Jack Benny Program;
4 hours of The Three Stooges;
3 hours of It Takes a Thief;
2 hours each of Gidget, The Benny Hill Show, The Flying Nun, The Monkees, & WKRP in Cincinnati; and
1 hour each of Bachelor Father, Barney Miller, Benson, McHale's Navy, Soap, & Totally Tooned In.
Those 82 hours along with the 3 hours devoted to the E/I programs round of the new weekly schedule that begins on 9/4/12.
Interesting and worth noting, excluding any preempts, on 12/8, every episode of The Partridge Family will have been shown twice. The same can be said for Dragnet on 12/10, and Gidget on 12/23. In other words, it's possible there will be 46 episodes of The Partridge Family and 42 episodes of Dragnet shown 3 times from the day after Labor Day thru New Year's Eve!
This isn't meant as a knock to Antenna TV, "Just the facts, ma'am". (I am still very grateful that the Tribune Company has devoted a channel to many shows that I have not been able to see on TV in years.)
This is an interesting breakdown. I noticed that they are showing more movies. 32% is significant amount of movies. I guess this means that the movies get better ratings than the shows that they are replacing? Maybe there are other reasons also? I hope they are not going the route of other networks/channels that start out great and then slide to not so great. I am kind of disappointed in the schedule, as I either own it on DVD and have seen most of what they air since they have been around. Still I love antenna tv! Maybe things will improve in January? I wish that I would be able to get ME tv.
mets82 08-21-2012, 08:44 PM Thats a tough schedule. I mean more of Antenna TV movie theaters? UGH. I dont think we need movies considering there are about 20 or more movie channels out there. Gidget and The Flying Nun on a Sunday evening?? Thats rough. I mean they have that up against football. Maybe they think Sunday is a lost cause because everybody will be watching football? If not, they should have loaded up there Sunday line-up to compete with football.
TVFactFan 08-21-2012, 09:22 PM Thats a tough schedule. I mean more of Antenna TV movie theaters? UGH. I dont think we need movies considering there are about 20 or more movie channels out there. Yup Barney Miller and Benson will be up against football too
Cheryl Harrell 08-22-2012, 12:18 AM Glad the Monkees are back on Sundays. Am upset they are taking off Here Come The Brides. I wonder if the contract expired on it? if so sad, sad, sad. More Partridges is great too!
BigManMike 08-22-2012, 10:35 AM I like the Partridge Family, but I think 14 episodes a week is too much for a show that only ran 4 seasons. I don't undestand why they are only showing 2 episodes of Barney Miller and Benson each week when they ran for 8 and 7 seasons. They should be shown more. Also, we only get 8 episodes of Three's Company each week, not sixteen. They repeat them in the later hour as an encore. That's the way they've shown them ever since the network started.
Hazel Anyday 08-22-2012, 11:37 AM The more Antenna TV adds '70's shows and ever more sickening movies the less and less I will watch (or record). Benson & Barney Miller, no way in Heck I'll ever watch these, I didn't even like them when they were originally on!
Dropping Iron Horse after only one complete run thru, they haven't even gotten thru the second showings yet and keeping other shows like Adam 12 after 3 and 4 run-thru's is ridiculous. Adam 12 needs to be removed and replaced with other great cop/detective shows, mentioned below.
I would add more classic Westerns from the '50's and early '60's (you know, the good ones that are never shown?, Gunslinger, Restless Gun, The Loner, Range Rider (no, no Bonanza and color Gunsmokes need apply, that belongs on Crap Land formerly known as TV Land).
Also shows like Mannix, Wild Wild West, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, these plus Secret Agent Man, The Avengers, 77 Sunset Strip, so many more I could think of that would be a 100% improvement over Benson & Barney Miller.
I'm very glad some shows are still on Antenna TV though, Hazel, Gidget, Father Knows Best & Dennis The Menace need to stay on Antenna TV permanently, they could also add The Real McCoys, My Little Margie, Love That Bob, & Oh, Susanna to this line-up to make it perfection.
Antenna TV needs to take off ALL of it's movies, people don't tune in to a station that is supposed to be dedicated to classic TV to watch lousy 3rd rate movies. Bottom line, this is just time filler and a cheap way for Antenna TV to fill it's airwaves without paying for the rights to the great TV shows (like those mentioned above) that it should be showing instead.
SIDE-BAR Comment:
I suppose I should be grateful though, it could be worse, Antenna TV could be showing those cursed 1/2 hour commercials on an endless basis like local TV now does. Remember when local TV actually showed "Blondie" and "Bowery Boys" on a Sunday? Now it's non-stop un-watchable 1/2 hour commercials. Who in their right mind actually watches this? I guess as long as the local station is being paid they could care less if anyone is watching.
Back to ANTENNA TV Programming:
I can only hope and pray that Antenna TV is not going the way of Nick At Nite and TV Land and turning to more and more modern crap programs and ignoring the real TV classics from the '50's and '60's.
Antenna TV needs to concentrate on the true and rarely seen classic TV of the '50's and '60's. If they need a programmer, I'm available to consult.
eng51squad51 08-22-2012, 12:38 PM The more Antenna TV adds '70's shows and ever
Also shows like Mannix, Wild Wild West, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, these plus Secret Agent Man, The Avengers, 77 Sunset Strip, so many more I could think of that would be a 100% improvement over Benson & Barney Miller.
The Wild wild west and Cannon is under contract with METV
in Witch Wild Wild West will be seen Mon-Friday at 4pm start Sept. 3rd on METV.
right now it is on Saturdays on METV.
and the Real Mccoys is on RTV and My Little Magie is on MY FAMILY TV
icecream 08-22-2012, 12:55 PM Also shows like Mannix, Wild Wild West, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, these plus Secret Agent Man, The Avengers, 77 Sunset Strip, so many more I could think of that would be a 100% improvement over Benson & Barney Miller. Benson and Barney Miller are two of the best shows ever made, you should give them a chance!
TVFactFan 08-22-2012, 05:20 PM Benson and Barney Miller are two of the best shows ever made, you should give them a chance!
I was willing to if they came on at 7pm/8pm from Mon to Thurs
Mr. Television 08-22-2012, 05:52 PM Benson and Barney Miller are two of the best shows ever made, you should give them a chance!
I agree. I love classic tv and BM and Benson are classic tv. It's not like they've been rerun to death. Benson has hardly been in reruns since the 1980's. TV Land sure didn't give it a chance.
Mr. Television 08-22-2012, 05:53 PM I agree. I love classic tv and BM and Benson are classic tv. It's not like they've been rerun to death. Benson has hardly been in reruns since the 1980's. TV Land sure didn't give it a chance.
I agree about the movies though. lol
Pavan 08-22-2012, 06:18 PM Three's Company is their number one show. Encoring it the same day is maxing the amount of plays they have per day, so they are taking advantage. Yes, MeTV is airing more shows, but ATV is airing the shows they air much more per week and don't drop them a lot like MeTV after one quarter.
TVFactFan 08-22-2012, 06:41 PM I just wish Antenna TV can have a Friday schedule that looks Thursday
icecream 08-22-2012, 06:42 PM I was willing to if they came on at 7pm/8pm from Mon to ThursThat would definitely be an improvement over the current lineup.
TVFactFan 08-22-2012, 06:53 PM That would definitely be an improvement over the current lineup.
The Norman Lear Syndication Package is what airs on Antenna TV in the evening:lol:

They could change things around. Put BM and Benson on from 6-8. That would be a great time for me.
TVFactFan 08-22-2012, 07:25 PM They could change things around. Put BM and Benson on from 6-8. That would be a great time for me.
Right and then the rest of the evening could be
8pm to 9pm.....Good Times
9pm to 10pm....Maude
11pm to 12am....AITF
12am to 1am......Sanford and Son
1am to 2am.....Three's Company
Pavan 08-22-2012, 07:33 PM Three's Company will not be leaving primetime.
This would be better:
5-6PM Sanford & Son
6-7PM Good Times
7-8PM All in the Family
8-9PM Maude
9-10PM Three's Company
10-11PM Barney Miller
11PM-12AM Soap
12-1AM Benson
1-2AM Three's Company
TVFactFan 08-22-2012, 07:47 PM Three's Company will not be leaving primetime.
This would be better:
5-6PM Sanford & Son
6-7PM Good Times
7-8PM All in the Family
8-9PM Maude
9-10PM Three's Company
10-11PM Barney Miller
11PM-12AM Soap
12-1AM Benson
1-2AM Three's Company
I like it a lot if TC had a encore at 1am so I can watch it then
Jude The Obscure 08-22-2012, 09:40 PM I'm glad to at least finally have ATV, even though my affiliate does air locally produced shows so not everything is shown here. And since ATV is designed for over the air viewers, I'm glad it is showing shows that otherwise wouldn't be seen. I do agree about the movies--too much. And I noticed--no westerns--an odd choice since that genre is part of classic TV. I guess they are maximizing the plays of Dragnet and Adam-12 since they lose the rights to it next year to Me-TV (so I'll still be seeing that! LOL). I wonder if anything that Me-TV airs will expire and eventually go Antenna-TV?
mets82 08-22-2012, 09:45 PM I, too, dont like the lousy movies they show. Its unnecessary and not needed. I would like to see what are the highest rated shows on ATV. Pavan mentioned Threes Company was there highest rated show but I wonder what some others are.
To me, theres lots of shows that have been rerun too much. Thats not needed on ATV. Put those shows on TVLand.

My other guess would be that the MAUDE was doing well on sundays to be moved back to weekdays
Ryan Chamberlain 08-23-2012, 03:41 AM Really ticked that they took off Too Close For Comfort and Newsradio. I love both of them. And, no other channel airs them. Unlike Good Times and Sanford and Son that are on cable networks.
Glad Three's Company is still on. Since TV Land just took it off.
Barney Miller!!! YES!!! I was so mad when WGN stopped airing it. I hope they play "Hash" That episode is hilarious. Or, should I say "High-Larious!"
TVFactFan 08-23-2012, 03:43 AM Really ticked that they took off Too Close For Comfort and Newsradio. I love both of them. And, no other channel airs them. Unlike Good Times and Sanford and Son that are on cable networks.

I think 11pm is bad for any show during the week because of
local news
late night talk shows
So I don't think no show will do well in that slot
BigManMike 08-23-2012, 10:34 AM I am also disappointed that Dennis the Menace on Friday nights has been moved to 10 central because I watch the news then. I don't like the movies either and I wish they weren't doing that stupid Jerry Lewis movie marathon on Monday. I wish they would show a Benson or Barney Miller marathon instead, or show a WKRP marathon to make up for the lost time from the tribute marathons. I wish they had kept Too Close for Comfort. As for the Norman Lear shows, the ones that I want on the most would be All in the Family and Maude, since the All in the Family DVDs are more expensive and only one season of Maude is out. I just bought the complete series of Sanford and Son last week at WalMart for $25, so I wouldn't mind if it left. I also plan to get the complete series of Good Times at some point, so I wouldn't mind it going either. However, I still prefer Antenna TV way over MeTV. At least they don't pull their shows fast, and I like how they show two episodes together, unlike MeTV that has too many shows and doesn't have a well organized schedule.

But the AITF DVD's can still be purchased individually and complete on DVD like Good Times and Sanford and Son
So Maude is the only Norman Lear show that should be on antenna Tv
Pavan 08-23-2012, 06:23 PM Having shows on Antenna TV is not just for fans, it's to create "new" fans. So if it is on DVD or not, who cares? They are here to provide the best in TV.

To create new fans? Pav that maybe the funniest thing you ever said in the last 10 years:lol:
Pavan 08-23-2012, 08:48 PM You do know that most people watching shows from the 50s-'80s discover it in syndication right? You would not believe how many people emailed me when Three's Company joined Nick at Nite and said they are watching it for the first time. Many of them were young, like 18 or younger.
VisualSensation 08-24-2012, 06:06 PM Shouldn't there be big changes coming to the schedule after January 1st, when some of the original syndication deals expire? I'm hoping they add more 80's sitcoms as time goes on, but Barney Miller and Benson are a great step in the right direction.

Maude is turning 40! The hit '70s sitcom starring Bea Arthur will be celebrating its 40th anniversary on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 and Antenna TV will celebrate with an all-day marathon beginning at 11am and lasting into the wee hours to 3am! That's 16 hours (32 episodes) worth of Maude! Classic episodes from all six seasons will be represented. "Watch it!" Episodes airing in the marathon include the series premiere "Maude's Problem," where Maude resents Carol's psychoanalysis. Other episodes include "Walter's 50th Birthday," where Walter sinks into depression as his 50th birthday nears; "Consenting Adults," where Walter leaves when Maude decides to run; and "Feminine Fulfillment," where Maude looks for the reason for Vivian's erratic behavior.. Maude regularly airs on Antenna TV Mon-Thurs 8pm & 8:30pm ET and Sunday nights at 2am & 2:30a ET.
View the episode list for the Maude 40th Anniversary Marathon on Antenna TV, or "God'll get you for that!" Sitcoms come and go. And then there's Maude, the groundbreaking Norman Lear comedy. The show revolves around Maude Findlay (Bea Arthur), a very outspoken middle-class woman who wears her liberal politics on her sleeve and shares her home in suburban Tuckahoe, N.Y., with fourth husband Walter (Bill Macy); her divorced daughter, Carol (Adrienne Barbeau); and Carol's adolescent son, Phillip (Brian Morrison). Walter and Maude's best friends are next-door neighbors Dr. Arthur (Conrad Bain) and Vivian Harmon (Rue McClanahan). Among the domestic help that Maude helps "liberate" during the run of the show are Florida Evans (Esther Rolle) and Mrs. Nell Naugatuck (Hermione Baddeley). Maude premiered on Tuesday, September 12, 1972 at 8pm on CBS.

BigManMike 09-04-2012, 03:57 PM The Partridge Family will be one continuous run throughout the week, no separate weekday and weekend rotations.
This is really stupid. They are going to wear it out so fast. There's nothing wrong with showing it on weekdays, but if they were gonna do that, then they should have dropped it on weekends and put something else on. This just aggravates me that they would show 14 episodes a week of a show that only last 96 episodes, yet they're only showing 2 episodes a week of Benson and Barney Miller, which lasted 158 and 168 episodes. Those shows will probably still only be in Season 2 or early Season 3 by the end of the year, yet the Partridge Family will have probably been through 3 whole runs.

I agree, another stupid decision by Antenna tv. They have good pickups and sh*tty programming decisons

Because they have more plays for that!
PrettyinPink55 10-12-2012, 11:12 AM So they are only allowed to show a certain amount of each show? Is this based on how they acquire the rights?
Pavan 10-12-2012, 11:29 AM Each show has a contract where they can only air a number of times an episode airs. For example 4 plays means, they can only air each episode four times for the contract (like a 2 year deal). Encores within 24 hours are free and do not count. Encores mean they are maxing the amount of plays they can do per day, that's why they encore Three's Company. It does well. I'm sure Too Close doesn't have the amount of plays per episode like Three's.

It's makes more sense to have it from 8pm to 3am. Who the hell will be watching it from 5am to 5pm?
Casey83 10-15-2012, 11:16 AM I don't even know where to begin on this lineup change for the fall season. If you were to ask me, I'd say there is more negative than good. Mind you, not enough to turn me off the station. So, let's get those out of the way, shall we?
First, there are shows they kept that I think should go:
Personally, I'm not into cop and crime dramas, so Adam-12, Dragnet, and It Takes a Thief (3 straight hours? I know it's only once a week, but seriously??)would be high up on my list. Another one would the Partridge Family (this one should be strictly for the weekend and one weekday). Lastly, Three's Company. I know I will get a lot of flack for this one, but I seriously think this one has been cycled to death! Time to give it a rest, already. Also worth mentioning, why are certin shows on for more than one hour? Like WKRP in Cincinatti, and Alfred Hitchcock? Pav, is there a law requiring EVERY non-cable channel to show E/I programming every weekend at the same time? Because I am SICK of these shows showing up on this channel. I really don't think they belong on Antenna TV. MeTV does the same thing too (I think), so I was just wondering.
Next, the shows that are off the air, but should have kept:
The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin. I am a 29 year old woman, but this show brought out the kid in me. Too Close for Comfort as well. I enjoyed this show when I was young, and was glad to see it actually re-running. The only one I am glad to see go is NewsRadio. As much as I had a mad crush on Dave Foley, I don't think 90's shows should be brought back so soon.
Finally, Maude. SOOOOO glad to see this one back!!! My weeknight viewing is so much more pleasant.
Suggestions for the future:
I don't know why, but Silver Spoons was the first to come to mind. Such a cute show!
Maybe you could put Bachelor Father on more often than just Friday night.
Reduce the amount of time for the God awful movies you seem to be airing.
That's all I can think of now. Sorry the post was so long, but I have been bottling this up, and I'm glad to see there are people discussing it.

Yes I agree with Maude, that show has become part of my daily viewing at 8pm. Really getting into the show. My only criticism is they need to air sitcoms on Friday evening and Saturday and not just sunday to Thursday

Mr. Television 10-15-2012, 07:28 PM The positives are of course Maude on weekdays again. The big negative is not airing Barney Miller and Benson weekdays. I don't understand that one. I still haven't been able to catch them and won't until after football season. Also they should put WKRP and Soap on weekdays too. Change up the lineup some and I agree, get rid of the movies.

OH Nuts! 10-23-2012, 06:18 AM Antenna has such a great line up. Burned about 200 DVDs of stuff from Antenna. What a wonderful treasure trove of shows. Haven't tuned in that much lately because of work, but am following the Barney Miller episodes. When they get to S#4 will jump back in (already have first 3 seasons).
Only negative is they took off Here Comes The Brides. Wished I had taped more eps of this show, which I adored. Maybe I'll buy entire series if I find them at a great sales price. So many shows have become dirt cheap to buy on DVD.
Antenna really is a great station and a Godsend to nostalgia lovers. Way Way better than a lot of crappy cable channels, which shall go unnamed.

I LOVE the way Antenna is always doing themed Marathons like this. And not some lame-as*ed excuse of a "marathon" that some tired cable stations try to pass off. Sorry, but a 3 or 4 hour time block, does not, to me, a marathon make! 16 and a half hours - now THAT'S a marathon. VIVA ANTENNA TV! The gold standard for what a nostalgia station should be!
TVFactFan 10-24-2012, 10:34 AM Not me. I love Will & Grace. But not enough to see an ENTIRE other program axed.
Right now Will and Grace does not fit on the Mon to Thursday schedule for Antenna TV since all of the shows are pre-1980

Only problem I see is that Three;s Company didn't have a election ep so they should have replaced Three's Company for one night

True - but W&G is still on my wish list - if not Antenna then another non cable channel.

Title certainly doesn't suggest an election ep. But sometimes you have to track down a plot summary to be sure. Just did & eps don't appear to be related to theme. But I still give a nice kudos to Antenna; they HAVE nonetheless put a lot of effort into this marathon. Fantastic station.

It's something he probably likes so I'm not getting to hyped up for the annoucement. I mean what else could Antenna TV add that would be a nice addition that is in the classic TV category? For me Unless it;s one of these shows then I could care less
Honeymooners
Gomer Pyle
Alice
What's happening
Welcome Back Kotter
Rhoda
Head of The Class
Different Strokes
Silver Spoons
Growing Pains
Gimmie a Break
So out of that list, what other show could it possibly be?-lol

All the 70s shows would fit right in. Would love to see Kotter back on TV. I think you might be right with Different Strokes for some reason though, that is what my bet is on for some reason
BigManMike 10-25-2012, 03:29 PM I hope it's one of those too. I'm very anxious to know what it is. I actually just bought the first season of Diff'rent Strokes last week and plan to get more, but I still would like to see it back on TV again. What's Happening or One Day at a Time would also be nice to see.

The Honeymooners and Gomer Pyle are both carried by ME-TV. Rhoda would also be theirs since Mary Tyler Moore is on there as well. Welcome Back Kotter would be a good choice and fits in well on Sunday nights. The other shows all stink, particularly the last three which would cheapen the value of any channel.
So what other possibilities are there? Well, if you were to think about shows from the 1950s and 1960s that might be up for grabs, the biggest names that I see would be "Gilligan's Island" and "The Andy Griffith Show". I don't think Pavan would be that excited about "Gilligan's Island" except maybe in his dreams so I'm guessing it's "Andy Griffith", which would be fitting given his recent death and the fact that neither Antenna TV or Me-Tv made a tribute that was worthy of his talents. This would be a way to make up for that mistake. But I don't really care. I'll settle for both shows.
Remember, Antenna TV has already announced that "Bewitched" and "I Dream Of Jeannie" will be added soon in 2013 so this would be another positive step forward for them. Also, both "The Addams Family" and the "Munsters" are without a regular carrier, which is sad with Halloween coming up, but I don't believe either of them would be the missing series. So it's got to be Andy!

Exactly why it isn't Andy Griffith. It is still on many local stations, so it would not be available on Antenna or MeTV. And that wouldn't excite me at all. That's still on TV on cable and many locals.
Gilligan would excite me, but that is from Warner Bros. and they don't have a deal with them.

There's a whole bunch of Sony and Universal (the libraries Antenna TV has access to) shows that would excite me. Out of this World, Diff'rent Strokes, What's Happening/What's Happening Now!!, Who's the Boss?, Facts of Life, Knight Rider, Charles in Charge, A-Team, The Jeffersons, One Day at a Time, Silver Spoons, Amen, 227...and more.
Could be any show!

I already stated what it is and I stand by my prediction
BOOK IT
BigManMike 10-27-2012, 04:51 PM Andy Griffith is good, but it wouldn't excite me that much since another one of my locals airs it, and oddly enough, it's sandwiched between Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons. Gilligan's Island would be nice, since it hasn't aired anywhere in a long time, but luckily Best Buy and Target both have all 3 seasons of Gilligan's Island on sale for $10 each. I already have 1 and 2 and I plan to get 3 this coming week.
The other shows Pavan named sound awesome and I would love to see any of them. Now tell us Pavan, when will you make the announcement on what the new show is? Monday perhaps?

I agree with you.Gilligans Island is a show that was ALWAYS on the air for many years whether it was on cable, local channels etc.Considering it's an all time classic and one of the most successful, popular shows ever made (not only here but Worldwide)it's rediculous that it has literally been taken off the air.
BigManMike 10-30-2012, 09:39 PM I just picked up Season 3 of Gilligan's Island for $10 at Target Sunday night, so now I have all 3 seasons. Still, it's a shame it doesn't air anywhere. It is such a good show.

And they weren't nearly enough! It should have lasted at least 2 more seasons.
Jude The Obscure 11-01-2012, 09:02 PM There should have been a 4th season, but due to the wife of the CBS president being a fan of Gunsmoke--that one got saved and GI was dumped!

It lists shows for 2013 and it doesn't show Three's Company or Too Close for Comfort on the list so they may be leaving, yet we've still got these boring dramas on there and also Gidget and Flying Nun, which need to go.

TVFactFan 11-14-2012, 05:32 PM What is the time slot for Different Strokes?
BigManMike 11-14-2012, 05:40 PM According to the press release, "In January, Antenna TV will also add Diff’rent Strokes to the lineup (Monday/Wednesday 9-11pm ET and Sunday 10-11p ET) with WKRP in Cincinnati and Barney Miller moving to weeknights. " Sounds like an odd way of programming, showing different shows on different days. I'm so anxious to see the new schedule now. It doesn't show Soap on there either, so it suggests it may be leaving. I hope they'll move Benson to a better time, so I can get a chance to see it. I also hope they'll put Hazel on Friday nights so I can see it as well, and move Dennis the Menace back an hour on Fridays so I can see it. I'm also not happy that it says they will be adding Antenna TV Theater movies on Saturday nights, so Saturday nights are still crappy.

Good Time slots and by it being on a Monday and Wednesday it doesn't interfere with the shows I like to watch on network TV on Tuesday and Thursday.
PrettyinPink55 11-15-2012, 12:54 AM Damm shame Good Times and Sanford and Son won't be removed from the schedule.
Why??
I love Sanford and Son!!
I haven't seen Diff'rent Strokes since it was on BET a few years ago!!! So happy it's returning!! It would be great if Too Close For Comfort returns also!!!

I can relate. I had The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air burnout for a few years. Now I am ready to start watching it again on ABC Family!!  For a time though, it seemed like everyone and their mother was showing Fresh Prince!!

PrettyinPink55 11-15-2012, 02:03 AM Just watched The Fresh Prince with Queen Latifah as Dee Dee in "She Ain't Heavy"   Great episode!!!
I still think it's so funny that Queen Latifah played Hilary's boss in an earlier episode that was constantly hitting on Will!!

Antenna TV is pulling a page out of The HUB's book, scheduling only a block (or two) of certain shows per week. I would prefer two episodes a night, but ten episodes of Diff'rent Strokes a week is better than no episodes of Diff'rent Strokes a week! Same goes for The Facts of Life on The HUB. I'm excited!! :happyface
Buffyboy323 11-15-2012, 02:40 AM The series will definitely be complete on DVD now that the show will be on Antenna TV
I hope the audience isn't confused by the timeslots. I want the show to do well. If it's a hit on Antenna TV, hopefully we'll hear some season 5 DVD news by the Spring.
Mr. Television 11-15-2012, 12:16 PM http://corporate.tribune.com/pressroom/?p=4802
"Antenna TV’s 2013 lineup includes classic favorites such as: Leave it to Beaver, Dennis the Menace, Father Knows Best, Adam-12, Dragnet, The Partridge Family, Good Times, Sanford and Son, Maude, Hazel, Benson, All in the Family, Diff’rent Strokes, WKRP in Cincinnati, Barney Miller, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, Jack Benny Presets, Gidget, The Flying Nun, The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin, The Monkees, S.W.A.T, Bachelor Father, McHale’s Navy and It Takes a Thief. "
As previously mentioned, "Soap" is not mentioned. Also not mentioned are "The Three Stooges", "The Benny Hill Show", and "Three's Company". Would they actually put "Three's Company" on hiatus? The key phrase from the quote is "such as", so maybe nothing should be read into this, but still, they mentioned just about every other show from its lineup.
Also worth noting, it looks like "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" and "S.W.A.T." are returning to the lineup, but unfortunately no mention of "Too Close for Comfort". "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie" are also not mentioned, but maybe they will start in 2nd quarter 2013 and not be another "The Farmer's Daughter" tease.
The difference is we all know that Bewitched & IDOJ tv prints are good as they have been in syndication for years.

I know it had to be a 80's show because I never recalled Pavan being a fan of any other show from the 70's but Three's Company. So I had no choice but to think 80's and when I did that DS was the only show that came to mind. lol

And Solomon, I have a lot of faves from the '70s.

Pavan 12-06-2012, 01:21 AM Well, you've been wrong before...
Nope, we were not wrong at all.
I'm going to stick to my source, which says Fall 2013, and usually the fall season starts in September, which is what I said, unless Antenna TV is thinking of hiring Gary Bettman or Donald Fehr as their boss, in which case you would have to wait a lot longer!!
Pavan 12-06-2012, 01:52 AM It's not going to be "September." We know for a fact from Antenna TV. I don't think a personal blog that you keep linking (and is taking stories from elsewhere, including this website) is a source. Our sources here has always been Antenna TV themselves.

Pavan 12-06-2012, 01:05 PM Antenna TV Christmas marathon story is now up: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2012/12/antenna-tv-christmas-2012-marathon.html
TVFactFan 12-06-2012, 01:36 PM Well i saw the schedule and I have 2 issues and 2 things I like
Two problems
1. Too Close for Comfort being sandwiched in between a bunch of great shows
2. The Christmas episode of Three's Company being repeated again 6 hours later....WHY???
Two things I like
1. Antenna TV saved the best part of the schedule for the evening time which is from 5pm to 10pm
2. Antenna TV including Married With Children which was a nice surprise
MRPITT 12-06-2012, 01:52 PM Thats a nice Christmas Schedule I am looking forward to it.
It looks like they finally realized that Too Close for Comfort's Season 6 Episode Ho-Ho-Ho Chi Henry isn't a Christmas Episode.

Too Close for Comfort is funny!! :)
BigManMike 12-07-2012, 01:09 PM I'm glad to see Too Close for Comfort on the Christmas schedule. I miss it. But I agree, it was odd that Ho Ho Ho Chi Henry was shown last Christmas when it had nothing to do with Christmas at all other than the title. I hope I'll be in town to see these shows.

It took ten years for Good Times to be removed from cable now it may take another 10 for it to be removed from digital TV LOL
PrettyinPink55 12-19-2012, 11:42 PM Good Times must be popular and getting good ratings for them to be giving it such a prime slot.
peteemory 07-10-2013, 04:01 PM Gotta agree--Antenna's Friday schedule has been abysmal for a while now (I never watch it). Also, what's with TC disappearing this year and (what appears to be) an overall slide to more crap programming (i.e. "Gidget")?
