Back in the 70s and early 80s and possibly was before, networks would move soaps to new time slots. It was very rare that a soap changed time slots and was successful. In fact, it finished off many soaps.

I wonder how this will affect General Hospital. Correct me if I am wrong. The last time a soap changed time slots was when Ryan's Hope moved from 12:30PM to Noon to give Loving a better time slot. As we all know, this was the kiss of death for Ryan's Hope and Loving never achieved the ratings of Ryan's Hope.

I believe this is the first time slot change since Ryan's Hope in 1984.

Local-wise, not exactly. WBBM2 in Chicago changed Guiding Light's timeslot from 2PM (following As the World Turns) to 9AM (where Wayne Brady's Let's Make a Deal is at now) preceeding The Price is Right.

As for ABC switching GH's timeslot to compete against NBC's Days of Our Lives and CBS's The Talk, this move will definitely make or break for GH and all of ABC's soaps in general.

As the World Turns moved from 1:30PM to 2:00PM in 1987 when The Bold & the Beautiful premiered. ATWT lasted another 23 years, so I don't think that change hurt it.

It's not going to bother my area. I live in EST. And, Days is on at one and so is Y&R.

It'll be going up again Ellen and The Talk.

Which. I watch The Talk sometimes since OLTL ended. But, not a big fan of Ellen.

I think it'll work alot better in the 2PM timeslot than the last two programs the ABC (All Bull Crap) network has shoved out after cancelling one of the best soaps ever. (RIP One Life)

You are right. I forgot about ATWT and I don't think that hurt them at all. In fact, I think it really helped The Bold and The Beautiful.

"The Edge of Night" (RIP) was killed by an awful time slot on ABC. Many stations took that half-hour for their own programming and moved "Edge" to early mornings or dropped the show completely. There were not as many VCR's back then so I couldn't tape it and it was a rare treat to have a day off and catch the early morning run of the previous day's episode.
