View Full Version : So what would have happened if Esther Rolle never returned to the show?
TVFactFan 08-10-2012, 11:12 PM Let's assume that Esther Rolle was never begged to return to the show, what do you think happens in season 6?
1. J.J gets promoted at the Ad Agency?
2. Willona gets a steady boyfriend?
3. Micheal has a high school graduation?
4. Thelma enrolls in college?
Btw, Esther Rolle should have stayed away from the show going by the numbers below
season 5 ratings without her....#53
season 6 ratings when she returns....#84:lol:
Brieannas21 08-11-2012, 10:54 AM Nothing, the show would have either been cancelled after the 5th season or it wouldn't have had the second half of the 6th season. The show was already down hill so either way there weren't going to be any Good Times in 1980.

People bailed in season 6 because of
J.J went from a employed successful man back to having no job
Thelma went from marrying a football and having a new life to him breaking his leg and her remaining in the projects
Wouldn't you have done the same thing if you were around in sept of 1978?

No I tend to stick with a shows that I like until the end, except for one particular show. But the 4th season a lot of the episodes sucked, that is one reason why I never bought it. In the 5th season some of the episodes sucked and were so boring. The 6th season, TO ME, the show was good, if John wouldn't have left and if they had never changed writers the show could have easily went on for 7 seasons.

Well "The Big Move" episode is hard for me to watch so I always skip that episode, and there are only about like 5 episodes that I like out of the whole 4th season.

TVFactFan 08-12-2012, 02:38 PM That punch bowl Florida slammed had some connection to Maude but I can't remember
Not sure if the same punch bowl was seen on Maude or if someone slammed a punch bowl on Maude

No, it's because my best-friend who I had been friends with since the 2nd grade was murdered. So I have a hard time watching anything that has to do with death. But then I started to get over it and then a year and a half ago my Grandmother who was like my second Mom died. So I just skip that episode all together.

Oh so sorry to hear that. Well most sitcoms deal with death in a light way but then you have those sitcoms like AITF and Good Times that didn't
