"The Walking Dead" Season 3 Will Be Broken In Two

Much like last season, AMC has determined the best strategy to roll out "The Walking Dead" season 3 is to break it in half.

The 16-episode run will kick off on October 14th and run for eight episodes before taking a brief break then resuming the rest of the season in early 2013.

Series creator Robert Kirkman tweeted today that work officially wrapped on the mid-season finale. I wonder what kind of "cliffhanger" they have in store this time.



In addition to that update, Kirkman also supplied his followers with a taste of this building exterior which comes from the haven of Woodbury, prominently featured in the upcoming season.

I hate when they break a season into two parts, not only does the show lose some of it's steam but it often loses viewers as well.

I kind of like a break sometimes. If the show is good, especially if the cliffhanger is good the viewers will come back. I think it did "Revenge" some good last season to take a short hiatus after a good number of plot twists. It kind of gave a breather before the run up to the finale. I know some viewers that had recently gotten into the show were able to catch up during the break. "Doctor Who" did the same thing last season. I do think it works better with a show that has 20 plus episodes compared to 16 though.

You make a good point. And if they do a recap before they start the second half of the season, it helps bring everyone up to speed. But personally I'd rather watch the show straight through without breaking it into two parts. They've done this with several shows that I watch & end up forgetting a lot of what happened in the first half of the season.

Me too. It's why I watch very few shows live anymore. I just stack them on my DVR and then watch them each week as I want to.

That's probably the best way to do it. We only have one DVR & my husband fills it up with Baseball, Nascar, Boxing, Football, etc, and there's not enough room for my shows. :lol: I do have a couple of dvd/vhs recorders that I can use though.

Also when they split up the shows like that, I'll get confused & think it's the start of a new season. I've done that several times. :lol:
