by Robyn Ross

Tim Allen is one of the last cast members standing on "Last Man Standing".

According to Entertainment Weekly, the series' new showrunner Tim Doyle has recast several roles.

Amanda Fuller, who most recently had an arc on "Grey's Anatomy", will replace Alexandra Krosney as the eldest daughter of Mike Baxter (Allen).

Newcomer Flynn Morrison will play Mike's 5-year-old son Boyd, who was previously portrayed by twins Luke and Evan Kruntchev.

Doyle is still looking for an actor to replace Nick Jonas in the now recurring role of Boyd's dad, Ryan.

"Last Man Standing" premieres on Friday, Nov. 2 at 8/7c on ABC.

Keck's Exclusives: "Last Man Standing" Recasts Role
Aug 16, 2012
by William Keck

Tim Allen's ABC sitcom "Last Man Standing" has found a new face for an old foil to Allen's Mike Baxter.

Jordan Masterson, who played Dumptruck on ABC Family's "Greek", will take over the role of Ryan, Kristin's baby-daddy and father of her 5-year-old son, Boyd. The part was played in Season 1 by Nick Jonas and is being expanded when the series returns on Nov. 2.

Masterson is the half-brother of Danny Masterson ("That '70s Show") and Christopher Masterson ("Malcolm in the Middle").

Man, there are about as many performing Mastersons as there are, well...Jonases!

I wonder if she's being replaced because she's "too young" to be playing a single mother (if that makes sense) and the eldest daughter. I mean, Molly Ephraim is in real life, I think four years older than Alexandra Krosney while Amanda Fuller is two years older than Molly.

I usually hate recasts. That's usually when the show JTS. I don't care about the boyfriend since he wasn't on much but I don't know about replacing Alexandra Krosney. It might not matter anyway if the show stays on Friday.

I'll probably miss some of the first episodes then wonder what is going on with all new people!

You know what the Alexandra Krosney-Amanda Fuller transition reminds me of in a way, the second season of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" when Gates McFadden was replaced by Diana Muldar as the ship's chief medical officer (granted, not as the same character like w/ "LMS" but you still get the point).

Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher) left the show under curious circumstances following the first season just like Alexandra Krosney did w/ "LMS". One rumor is that one of the producers (and please note that I"m not at all insinuating the same sort of thing w/ "LMS") was sexually harassing her, but that's another different story. Another rumor is that the producers felt that something was missing conflict wise and tried to make things more like the original "Star Trek" series. Namely, the new doctor (Katherine Pulaski) would have to be sort of a female version Leonard "Bones" McCoy w/ Data filling the Mr. Spock role.

This is sort of like how Tim Allen and company decided that for Season 2 or "LMS", it had to be more like "All in the Family" w/ him in the Archie Bunker role and his grandson's father and his daughter filling the Mike/"Meathead" and Gloria roles respectively.

Despite a majority of fan outrage over the changes, the writers/producers keep trying to sell us the "positive things" about said actor (e.g. Amanda Fuller) or character (Dr. Pulaski).

Can they just find a well-known actor, who did not end up in the movies at all, to play Mike Baxter instead?

Tim Allen is already a well-known actor and he is already in the movies! Bringing him back to a TV series was a terrible idea, it is like turning the clock back!
