This fall, NBC takes viewers to Crane Animal Hospital, one of the nation's best places to provide healthcare for animals in need... such as suicidal cats. Animal Practice is NBC's new sitcom about the everyday happenings at this animal hospital, headed by Dr. George Coleman (Justin Kirk). The series follows Dr. Coleman and his fellow coworkers, including a monkey named Dr. Rizzo (Crystal the Monkey) through their daily work at the hospital... typically resulting in a series of mishaps and blunders.

"Despite what the series promotions might suggest, the pilot doesn't overuse her," James Poniewozik says of the monkey. "A little monkey goes a long way. It's the humans, and the situations they’re set up in, that I already feel we’ve seen too much of." PLUS: What a dumb sitcom (http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/reviews/story/2012-08-10/animal-practice-review/56929290/1?csp=34), and only the monkey shines (http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/tv/on-animal-practice-only-the-monkey-shines/2012/08/09/45fcd520-dd98-11e1-9ff9-1dcd8858ad02_story.html).

I just saw the pilot episode today and give it 2.5 /4 stars. I was looking forward to seeing this show. I have never seen a series that took place in an animal hospital (the All In the Family spinoff Gloria is the only one that I know of.)

I generally like the casting. The actors in the picture above are all humourous in their own way. The homely woman is also good. However, I also tire of the whole man/woman, relationship stuff. The man in the doctor and the woman is the owner of the hospital. They used to date, had sex, broke up and are together again, with the tired sexual tension between the intimates.

Pilot episodes are not usually the best. It is sort of a preseason game, and they can smooth out the kinks. This is a show that COULD be good. Could be good. It did not go for the cheap laughs. The surgery on the dog was a nice subplot. The monkey is awesome. Everybody hates the monkey, why is beyond me.

The review of the show is about what I think of it. I will watch it again.

Animal Practice has its moments and has the potential to be a great show. I didn't care for all the needless sexual innuendos though, didn't think Go On would be more family friendly. I will keep watching Animal Practice on demand for now, but the Middle will definitely remain my live choice.

Agreed. Get rid of that woman who kept making them. She is an unecessary character. Bobby Lee's character is also beyond stupid. Otherwise, it has great potential.
