ON TV LAND LAST NIGHT WHEN BEAVER REFUSED TO EAT BRUSSEL SPROUTS, JUNE ACTUALLY WAS SOMEWHAT "SNOTTY" TO AN ELDERY LADY IN THE RESTURANT. THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW TIMES HER CHARACTER HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO BE ANYTHING LESS THAN SWEET OUTSIDE OF THE FAMILY.

Yes, Ward is usually the one who takes a hard line and June attempts to moderate his views. June also was really rough in "Wally's Haircomb", where she absolutely couldn't see any merit in allowing Wally to have a "jellyroll" hairstyle.

Another example is in the ep in which "little Benjie from across the street" thought Larry turned Beaver into a rock. After they couldn't convince the kid that the rock was not Beaver, June was on the phone with Aunt Martha telling her the circumstances and that Ward is coming to pick Beaver up. Aunt Martha ends up saying, "Oh, very well, dear. But in my day, our parents told us what to believe!" Wally, standing by after the call, says, "What happened, Mom? Did Aunt Martha flip her lid?" Exasperated June yells, "Wally, you get right out of here!" That was funny; while that goofy kid thinking the rock was Beaver was sort of pathetic. BTW, Benjie lived across the street from both the Cleaver houses.

June definitely had her moments, where she could get testy or down right firm. Most of the time she would let Ward do the dirty work but when she wasnt satisfied with the results she would step in with an iron hand.
