Off the clock programming ruins this network. There's been many times where I've thought to myself "wow, if Home Improvement would just start at 8 like normal channels, I would be able to watch." I always end up watching something else because I don't need to see 19 mins of commercials for a 20min program that prob was originally 22-23 when it originally aired.

I totally agree. They really need to make some kind of regulation that all networks must end their programming on the hour or half hour.

Off the clock is bad, but this line-up is beyond stale. Cosby and Roseanne again? And still a ton of Raymond & MASH. Paying to watch more commercials, no way. Fortunately I'm already done with TVL. MeTV is my main channel now.

Yeah,there was nothing wrong with Turner time,they just wanted viewers to stay tuned and not switch the channel.And as you touched on, that was before most American TV stations became commercial filled cesspools.

In America the FCC is asleep at the switch. I don't know exactly when but at some point in the last few years any regulation of commercials was obviously dropped if there was one, or broadcasters just stopped caring. A station could just show nothing but commercials if they wanted to. The only recourse we viewers have is to drop our subscriptions completely, because if we just stop watching they still get paid. I remember as a kid people laughing at the idea that anyone would pay to watch tv. Now we pay twice.

For certain parts of the year, such as summer, I am in the States so I have TV Land. But you're right, in Canada it's Comedy Gold and I think they do a better job of not over-editing stuff. For example, the way shows would air in the US 10 yrs ago in syndication (so, approx 22mins - aka syndicated cuts but not over-edited ones like now where the runtimes are around 20mins) is the way they are in Canada. But what's absolutely TERRIBLE is our Canadian stations only acquire 1-3 seasons of a show for the entire year so even if Fresh Prince is on everyday on Comedy Gold they may only be airing seasons 3,4, and 5 for example all year.

TVLand really needs to get some different shows and cut out the off-the-clock stuff. Most of those shows have been run to death.

I wish they would just take Rosanne off and replace it with Three's Company. Well, they could take Everybody Loves Raymond off too. I am tired of both Raymond and Rosanne. The cosby show is being on at 3:30am is kind of a weird time. I;m guessing it will be a repeat of the 8pm airing. The latest I ever watched the Cosby show is at 1am

I'm thinking they need to rest Three's Company for airplays since it is nearing the end of its current deal. It is expiring next fall (2013), but I'm sure they'll renew it again.

Exactly, and bring another old 70's sitcom to life that hasn't been aired in years like Alice.

I have to say, every single night I watch TV Land from 9 or 10pm until I go to bed, usually around 5am only because their nighttime lineup is so incredibly entertaining. I love all these shows, Raymond, King of Queens, Roseanne, 70's show, Three's Company, Home Improvement, and whatever they have going now is an incredible lineup. Though I'd much rather TC over Cosby, it's still a great lineup. I've prolly watched reruns of Roseanne and TC and Raymond hundreds of times, but I still enjoy them, and so do hundreds of thousands of other people, and that's why this lineup works.

TV Land is currently having one of their best schedules ever, in my opinion.

Well for me TV land remains relevant because they are consistent in airing shows I love like Three;s Company and now the Cosby Show. I can't remember a time when I didn't turn to TV Land at all in the past 12 years.

It's just a matter of taste, but I do most of my work at night and having TV Land on the background, with this lineup, is amazing. I love Raymond and King of Queens so I don't mind 4 episodes of each at all. I can't even go to bed before 5am nowadays because I don't want to miss any of the shows. haha.

Agreed. I've felt the same way about TBS in recent years too. They have the rights to some GREAT series, but how they've been scheduled, all the advertisements and bumpers, poor editing, off the clock, makes it difficult to enjoy.

Yep. If I were running any cable network, I wouldn't put more than 2 episodes on at once unless the show is immensely popular or has surpassed 200 episodes, but anything below 100 episodes? A single airing! So here's how I'd handle TBS this fall:

To be fair, I watch TVLand sometimes. I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, Andy Griffith and Dick Van Dyke Show. Like other people have mentioned, its tough to watch with there off the clock programming, constant advertisements for there show (Ex. The Exes, The Soul Man), end credit crunch etc.

Need I say anymore? I have been watching MeTV, Aspire, GMC, Antenna TV, Centric and TV One. TV Land is too cliche now.

Centric has been "BET 2" since 1996. It was "Bet on Jazz" in the beginning. Look at the two networks swapping shows. LOL.

Since Centric got rid of 227 and decreased airings of the Cosby show it looks so similar to BET
