"New Girl" Exclusive: "Amen's" Anna Maria Horsford Will Play Winston’s Mom!

Here’s a bit of casting news to make you say "Amen": Anna Maria Horsford is joining "New Girl" as Winston’s tough-talking mom.
The TV vet will guest-star in the Fox comedy’s upcoming Season 2, TVLine has learned exclusively. Her character, Charmaine Bishop, is a Chicagoan who raised all of her children to become professional basketball players — in Winston’s case, at least, it worked for a while!
Oh, and Mama Bishop hates Schmidt. (As if such a thing were possible!)
Horsford is best known for playing Sherman Hemsley’s character’s daughter Thelma in NBC’s "Amen". Her other TV credits include "Grey’s Anatomy", "The Shield" and "Everybody Hates Chris".
"New Girl" returns to Fox at 8/7c and 9/8c on Tuesday, Sept 25.
