View Full Version : Besides Good Times and Happy Days, are there any other sitcoms that....
TVFactFan 07-28-2012, 11:56 PM used scenes in the opening credits that were never part of any episode?
For example, Happy Days had the scene with Al spilling fries on Richie, Ralph, and Potsie which was never in a episode
Good Times had a scene with Willona, J.J, Penny, Michael, and Thelma walking around the couch but not seen in a episode
Any other sitcoms do this?

Yeah. Different Strokes in the final season with the cast singing "wooooorld" in connection to the lyrics of the theme song.
The Facts of Life when Beverly Ann playing the piano with the cast around her watching and smiling.
Almost every scene from seasons one and two of Angie's opening theme at the beginning of the theme song. (Much Like Happy Days, Garry Marshall shows were into that thing.)
McGillicuddy 07-29-2012, 03:27 PM The Golden Girls Blanche pulls her fist into her cuff, and nobody's ever been able to figure out why she's doing it and what episode this is from.

I agree with FOL but that different strokes scene looked to be a specially made for the opening credits since they are all looking into the camera. That happy days scene with the fries looks like a episode and the same with the Evans dancing around the couch and doesn't have that OBVIOUS not a episode look.

Just saw that on youtube-LOL Yup that's another example, thanks

Actually that scene was indeed from an episode. The story was about various versions of how the Evans' couch had been set on fire. Each cast member told their rendition of what happened and it was Thelma's version of what happened that the scene you refer to occurred in. You're Welcome.

First of all I;m talking about the COUCH that was on fire. I;m talking about their regular couch in the opening of season 5. And they are DANCING around the couch. Get your facts straight or stop talking to me
Jude The Obscure 07-29-2012, 08:05 PM Several scenes from the Alice opening credits over the years seemed to be filmed just for the opening credits. Like the one where Tommy pretends to be choking on Mel's chili--LOL.

Just saw that one. What about Vera's tap dancing?
Jude The Obscure 07-29-2012, 08:12 PM oh you mean the first one where she is all over the place doing that on Mel's floor? Not sure if that was in an episode. I know the straws going all over the place is in an episode.

The one when she is tap dancing in Mel's diner and the diner is empty LOL
I think since the diner is empty is another example of a scene in the opening and not in a episode. And the diner is also empty when Tommy acts like he choking on Mel's chilli
Also the one with Tommy playing the Piano looks like it's not in a episode
Coffeecup 08-05-2012, 07:06 PM TV Factfan don't be rude. The poster Cleverfan was only trying to help with the couch question and he or she did his or her best and was polite.

No CleverFan was trying to be a smarta$$ and was wrong as two left shoes.
Maybe he should have tried comprehending my post instead of looking foolish. My post was clear but he thought I was talking about a actual episode and I wasn't.
