View Full Version : Why are the Eagles favored to win the NFC East every year when they haven't won a
TVFactFan 07-27-2012, 03:18 PM playoff game since 2008?
They were put out in the first round in 2009, 2010, and missed the playoffs in 2011 but for some reason the national media always has them as the favored to win the NFC East. Some are even picking them to win the SB which makes no sense at all. Especially since the Giants won the SB last year.
My only explanation........"some national media people are undercover Eagles fans"?

No it's because they always have the most talented teams. I would pick them to win the east this year myself. It's between them and the cowboys too me. I know everybody will say the Giants. But i'm really not a big fan. No matter who wins the east The Packers are going to win the nfc championship.
hawkeye123 07-27-2012, 03:48 PM Look at this list of talent. Mike Vick, Lesean MCcoy, Desean Jackson, Jermey Maclin. And that is only on offence.

My point is they had the same players last year and didn't make the playoffs. So why are they favored to win again when Vick had a sh*tty season with interceptions. That talented team started 1-4

I expect Vick to play like he did the year before last. Same goes for Desean Jackson he had a off year last year. He still played good but not as great as he is capable of. And Mccoy he's a top running back. The most important factor though is the Eagles defence is much improved. I think they picked up like 6 guys in the draft. Alot of last year was a case of injuries as well.
hawkeye123 07-27-2012, 04:14 PM As far as the 2010 first round loss in the playoffs. They we're playing The Packers. That is pretty self explanatory:lol:

It doesn't matter who it was against, the fact remains they haven't won a playoff game since 2008 and they are still looked at as this great team

Well it actually does matter because had it been against anyone else. They probably would have won. The fact remains they are the most talented team in the NFC east. And that is why everybody picks them. It hasn't been talent that's kept them from winning just dumb luck.

So interceptions and poor defense= "dumb luck"

It was a lot more than that. They had signifigant injuries.

You sound like a Eagles Fan. I really hope that is not the case because eagles fans have never been welcomed on this board

Na he's a Packers fan Sol.
It doesn't matter what the experts say. They've been saying the Eagles are going to win the SB as long as I've been alive. It hasn't happened yet. It just makes it all the more better when they fall short again.
Mr. Television 07-27-2012, 06:42 PM Speaking of the Eagles, I can't believe they got our pro bowl punter. I hope that doesn't come back to bite us.

Well first off , as I have said before. I am a Green Bay Packers fan. But I don't discriminate against Eagles fans. There are a lot worse things you can be. They have a very talented team and, I call it like I see it. They should win the NFC east but if they end up against my Packers or The Saints they are going to lose.

Ever since 2002

What I don't get is the Giants are the SB champs. Talk about getting disrespected. I understand the Cowboys always underachieve but the Giants have won 2 SB's since 2007.

And the Eagles have only been past the 1st round ONCE since 2007. Their strongest era was 2002-2006

The Giants are like the little engine that could. They sneak up on better teams and, some how find a way to win. I don't care how many super bowls they win. I will always pick against them.
Mr. Television 07-27-2012, 09:22 PM And the Eagles have only been past the 1st round ONCE since 2007. Their strongest era was 2002-2006
Well I'm not really worried about them. Michael Vick won't win a SB. He isn't that great of a qb and he can never stay healthy. I was more worried when McNabb was in his prime and even then I wasn't worried that much. lol

Exactly, I feared the 2002-2006 Mcnabb more than I would ever fear Vick for any YEAR
hawkeye123 07-27-2012, 09:27 PM I would take Donovan Mcnabb in his prime over Vick as well. But at the same time I would take Vick over Eli. I think Vick is a lot better of a player then either of you are willing to give him credit for.

I think the most I was worried was 1980 when Jaws qb'd them in the SB and they got blown out by the Raiders. lol Now that was a great team though.
Mr. Television 07-27-2012, 09:33 PM I would take Donovan Mcnabb in his prime over Vick as well. But at the same time I would take Vick over Eli. I think Vick is a lot better of a player then either of you are willing to give him credit for.
He's a good athlete. He always has been and he can make plays. He's never been that great of a qb though. He's getting older too. When he can't run anymore, he'll just be average. I used to be a big Michael Vick fan when he was in Atlanta. That was before his downfall for killing dogs. I just don't like him. But even when he was in Atlanta, he had trouble with his accuracy throwing the ball.
hawkeye123 07-27-2012, 09:34 PM It was really amazing what Jeff Garcia did with The Eagles. They we're a td being called back away from the super bowl that year. They we're high jacked in that game against The Saints. The Pack was already out.

I think the Eagles made a mistake getting rid of Garcia. Now he was scary. At least that year.

Oh yeah Vicks not a great passer. But he runs so well that he doesn't have to be. The running opens up his passing game. And he has some of the very best play makers in Philli. I don't like what he did to dogs either. I like dogs better than humans in most cases. But to come straight out of prison and have the year he had. I think they will make a little noise this year. They won't when a super bowl or even make it there. But i'll be happy if they just keep The Giants out:lol:

What do you mean a TD away from being in the SB they were knocked out by the Saints in round 2

I agree I will never forget watching that run.

I was pretty sure that it was the semi finals. I would have to look it up to be sure. But if it was the 2nd round like you say. Then what I mean is they would of walked right through the competition.

Garcia showed his true colors when he started for the Bucs the next season, LOL
I can't believe he went on David letterman and said....."I will weigh my options"
The Eagles were like...........BYE!
LOL

His true colors please. That is laughable he went to a lesser team was all. If he would of stayed on The Eagles things would of been different. Garcia was also great when he played for the 9ers with T.O and Garrison Hurst.

I remember a first round exit when he played for the Bucs

Top QB'a win SB rings
hawkeye123 07-27-2012, 10:03 PM Top QB'a win SB rings
You don't have to be a top qb to win a SB ring. Eli and that guy that played for The Ravens proved that. Bucs didn't have a good enough RB or WRS.
