LOS ANGELES -- The star of the 1970s TV series "Medical Center" who went on to appear in such films and shows as "Mulholland Drive" and "Melrose Place" has died. Chad Everett was 75.

Everett's daughter says he died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles after a year-and-a-half-long battle with lung cancer.

His acting career spanned more than 40 years and included guest starring roles on such TV series as "The Love Boat," "Murder, She Wrote" and "Without A Trace." He most recently appeared in the TV series "Castle." His films credits include "The Jigsaw Murders," "The Firechasers" and director Gus Van Sant's "Psycho."

Everett is survived by his two daughters and six grandchildren. He was married to actress Shelby Grant for 45 years until her death last year.

The day keeps getting worse. I used to watch Medical Center with my Mom. It was one of her favorite shows. R.I.P. Chad. :(

Very sad and ironic. Yesterday I think I posted my list of 25 best dramas, and Medical Center was on my list. I remember thinking I hadn't seen Everett in much after that, besides the Jerry Lewis Telethons, but that I always liked him.

Rest in peace! It was also kind of nice when he was a guest star on a few episodes of Cybill back in the 90s.

Sad news. My Mom knew his Dad in the 70's from her work and got an autograph. I still have the picture.

Sadly no one will be airing Medical Center marathons as a tribute.

I watched an episode of Medical Center last night on a Bootleg DVD in tribute to him. :rip:

No I guess they won't. The last time I saw Medical Center on TV was when TNT just started out as a network.

I have this statement: Compared to Marcus Welby, M.D., Medical Center was underrated.

I watched his show as a young girl, and I remember thinking that he was so handsome, because he was. His wife was very pretty. They died only a year apart.
