John Cusack or Matthew Broderick as Walter White? Too weird to imagine it now, but AMC wanted them as Walter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

When both turned down the role, AMC went with Bryan Cranston as the drug-dealing, facial hair-growing chemistry teacher.

I really like Matthew Broderick and John Cusack, especially MB; yet after watching Bryan Cranston shine as Walter White, I can't imagine anyone else in the role. He literally owns it. It's almost scary.

I agree... Bryan is amazing as Walter! It's hard to believe that he was on Malcom in the Middle! . And I can't imagine anyone else playing Walter either. Matthew Broaderick seems too young but then again, I'm guessing that Bryan Cranston is around the same age. I have no idea though.
