“Frasier”

Liking “Frasier” can feel like admitting to having a rash, given the current renaissance in quickly edited mockumentaries. But the debut episode, which finds Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Crane relocating from Boston to Seattle to start a new job and care for his aging father, is proof that you can still go great things with multiple cameras, quick wit, and a love of farce. “Frasier” falls squarely in the set-em-up-knock-em-down school of sitcoms, though the predictability of some (or many) of the jokes does nothing to lessen their charm. This episode won James Burrows an Emmy and a DGA Award, and it also earned Grammer the first of four Emmys he’d capture during the series’s 11-season run.

Even after the entire 20 yrs of the show, the pilot stands up to all of them. I wouldn't have changed a single line of the pilot!!!

I completely agree with this, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge Frasier fan. I thought it was one of the best pilots ever written. It was subtle enough to be hilarious and I loved how they did such an amazing job of introducing the characters. And I think it's a testament to DHP's incredible acting that a line that he uttered drew applause. I know I keep harping on that but he should be proud because rarely have I ever heard the audience break out into applause in the middle of the show! Most pilots feel kind of awkward to me and it takes me a few episodes-sometimes a whole season-for me to get into a show. But with Frasier, the pilot drew me in!

What the heck? Frasier is the coolest show that I like. Try admitting outside of this site that you like Full House or Who's the Boss or Big Brother or Mayberry RFD or any number of 80's comedies.

And I agree with you guys. The pilot was pretty much perfect. :)

I love Full House and I'm not at all afraid to admit that-anywhere, actually but I agree that Frasier is the coolest show! That and Seinfeld!

I think more people like Frasier than you'd expect. It's well-written, witty, and ultimately an adult family show to which many people can relate. The family dynamic in the show is realistic, yet hysterically funny at the same time. I think the pilot is priceless!

I've always enjoyed Fraiser and think the relationships between Fraiser, Niles, and their father is one of the finest ever written on television. With that being said, their manic personalities make it hard to sit through more than an episode or two at a time. With that being said, I think the show's fantastic and would certainly say it's one of the all-time greats. I have yet to see the series in its entirely, but will certainly make an effort to in the not-so-distant future.

All eleven seasons are wonderful which is what I love about it. I don't think there are any bad seasons and I'm glad that it continued to stay awesome throughout it's long run.
