Michael Clarke Duncan is being treated in a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a life-threatening cardiac arrest early Friday morning.

The 6-foot-5 actor, who was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe for his turn as a gentle prisoner with special gifts in Frank Darabont's The Green Mile (1999), might have died had his girlfriend, "The Apprentice" star Omarosa Stallworth, not acted quickly and performed CPR after discovering the 54-year-old unconscious, TMZ reports.

Duncan’s heart rate was said to be stable, and doctors were trying to determine what caused his heart to stop.

The Chicago native, a former bodyguard to such stars as Will Smith and Jamie Foxx, lent his voice to last summer’s Green Lantern movie and this year starred in the Fox series "The Finder", the recently canceled "Bones" spinoff created by Hart Hanson.

Duncan's other credits include Armageddon (1998), The Whole Nine Yards (2000), The Scorpion King (2002) and Daredevil (2003).

Stallworth, who has appeared on a number of reality TV shows, has said she first met Duncan at a Whole Foods grocery store.

He's always been a big guy. Too big.

I bet he weighs over 300 lbs.

Hope he can fully recover.
