His jealousy of Tom Willis because he was a goofy overweight white man who was able to marry someone HOT like Helen who was better looking than his wife. It all makes sense because if you pay close attention, you can see that over the years George always went out of his way to impress HELEN WILLIS

1. Whenever he danced with her he had the BEST MOVES but when he danced with Louise he was not putting that much effort in

2. When he was feeling down about himself he wanted Helen's opinion of how he looked physically and when she made fun of him he says."you didn't marry no winner you know?

3. He would often make statments like......"I hope she is not coming down here today"' which really meant he hoped she was

4.George revealed his attraction for Helen in season 5 and louise was upset.

So george was definitely Jealous of Tom because he was attracted to Helen Willis. I know this is something WE ALL CAN AGREE ON!!!

Big Thanks to Neutron for that Excellent Observation!!!!

I'm so glad the word JEALOUSY is finally being used correctly to describe George Jefferson. The word was mis-used before to describe his bigotry, his temper and his racist views. Those were not examples of jealousy.

George was indeed JEALOUS of a chubby, nerdy looking bald man snagging a hot wife like Helen though. That is very accurate. It's certain that George had a little crush on Helen. He even told her so, like you said, TVFactFan. I think he said something like "you're the best looking woman I know at your age." Something like that.
