Could fred handle the junk business without his hard working son by himself, fred was old and lazy i dont think he would last a week he would have to drive the truck around picking up stuff all by himself all day long he would not have the time to sleep or watch tv.

Maybe not at that age. But you gotta remember that he was running the junk biz BEFORE Lamont was born and when he was growing up. So I'm pretty sure he was doing all those things when he was younger. Also remember in "Sanford And Rising Son" when Lamont admitted he couldn't run the business without Fred? I think at this point they BOTH need each other,lol! One to make pick ups and deliveries and one to run the yard and take care of customers.
