This character is too similar to Vinny Barbarino, his hair, voice, and the way he dress style. Wonder why they had a character so close to Vinny while WBK was still on the air?

Also I found out that Robin Williams was up for the role of the Latka character. Yeah probably would have fit right in:lol:

Loving Louie so far

If I'm not mistaken, by the time Taxi was on the air, Vinnie had either left WBK or had had his role greatly lessened, i.e. semi-regular appearances.

I do see the resemblance. I'd say that Bobby was a bit smarter than Vinnie, though.

I had my eyes closed for a second and thought I was watching WBK:lol:

I dunno I thought Bobby was a lot brighter and smoother than Vinny.

Not really he acts too much like Vinny and not very original.

I think Jeff Conaway overacted in the role of Bobby. He seemed less real than the other characters because of that. I still liked him though.

Sometimes I thought Bobby was a bit of a one note character...he wanted to be an actor and he was a bit vain...and that was most of his character.

But I did think when he took Jim under his wing he showed some dimension, and I always felt for him because of all the cabbies, he was the one that Louie seemed to pick on and torment the most.

^ Yeah, I almost forgot the lurid story that came out from...was it Conaway's ex-wife or girlfriend...alleging untoward behavior from Travolta towards Conaway.

Who knows what the truth was? But it's interesting to think that two friends played similar characters, nonetheless.

I think Joey from Friends was just Bobby and Tony combined, lol. Just a random thought. ;)

Yeah it was his girlfriend that alleged that. I do know the two stopped talking for a while for whatever reason.

Hey Retro4Life, we both currently have avatars of Peter Parker from the past, lol. Mine is Christopher Daniel Barnes from the 90s cartoon and yours is (obviously) Toby McGuire from the three previous Spidey movies.

Oh, Taxi connection, Christopher Daniel Barnes as a kid appeared in an episode of Taxi, though I don't think he looks at all like him.

As a LONG time fan of Spiderman, I really enjoyed the 90's cartoon a lot. It really captured the feel of the classic Spidey tales.

Loved the Maguire Spiderman, at least the first two. Three was weak, but I thought they should have tried to redeem themselves with a fourth.

As to the current Spiderman, no interest whatsoever, lol.

Nice catch in our avatars, though!

Check out the season 1 episodes "High School Reunion" and "Bobby's Big Break" if you haven't already. If you don't like those episodes you'll probably never like Bobby. Those were some of his best performances on the show, IMO.

One of my favorite Bobby moments is actually because of Alex. It's when Tony is about to punch Bobby in the face. Bobby convinces him not to, saying he'll punch himself, instead. As he's about to punch himself, Alex grabs Bobby's arm but Bobby is still trying to punch himself. Alex's line cracks me up... "No, no, no, don't do it! Don't do it! What am I doing? I'm breaking up a fight between one guy!" lol
