View Full Version : The Complete Series on DVD this October Ron Ron 07-09-2012, 04:35 PM http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Family-The-Complete-Series/17194 TVFactFan 07-09-2012, 04:40 PM http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Family-The-Complete-Series/17194 Why is this news when the show is already complete on DVD??? McGillicuddy 07-09-2012, 05:19 PM Why is this news when the show is already complete on DVD??? I would assume there will be extra content, which haven't been included on any of the All in the Family sets. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any purpose to put out a complete box set. For one thing, this set should include the 2 original pilots, called Those Were The Days and Justice For All. TVFactFan 07-09-2012, 05:25 PM I would assume there will be extra content, which haven't been included on any of the All in the Family sets. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any purpose to put out a complete box set. For one thing, this set should include the 2 original pilots, called Those Were The Days and Justice For All. I know most complete sets that are released don't have any special features just a way to make more money from fans. We will see Hughsgirl 07-13-2012, 03:24 PM I will tell you all right now that Shout Factory did an AWESOME job with the Leave It To Beaver set I bought from them! So if you are looking into buying any set on AITF, I would HIGHLY recommend the one from Shout! They are sure to be truely UNCUT as LITB was. I did buy the first season but just haven't gotten around to buying more. I may consider buying this set and give away the one season I have. It all depends if I can really afford it. Then pick up the complete series collection this fall. And even if you don't, it's not like the individual seasons will now be out of print. They're still available for fans. And even if you don't, it's not like the individual seasons will now be out of print. They're still available for fans. They don't have any appeal now because the complete SET is out. When I sold TV shows they were always shows you could not get from Amazon, or Best Buy. Ron Ron 07-17-2012, 10:58 PM Does anyone else think maybe they'll release these bonuses on a separate set? I hope so because I bought the indivual sets from Sony and Shout. I commented on FB tvshowsondvd page that I and others who have the sets already are getting screwed by not being able to get the spinoff extras. TVFactFan 07-17-2012, 11:09 PM I hope so because I bought the indivual sets from Sony and Shout. I commented on FB tvshowsondvd page that I and others who have the sets already are getting screwed by not being able to get the spinoff extras. Yes we are all screwed BigManMike 07-18-2012, 10:04 AM I haven't bought this show yet. The individual seasons looked cheaper, but since this has some good bonus features, I will probably buy the complete set instead. I may wait a year or so for the price to go down. I see this will have the original two unaired pilots which I have never seen. There is no way I would buy that Norman Lear collection released in 2009. That was a big ripoff. Ron Ron 07-18-2012, 05:17 PM High robbery I tell you:lol: Its not fair for those loyal fans who bought the original Sony releases and the Shout ones. I wish Shout had said they were doing a complete series set. I might have waited for it instead. TVFactFan 07-18-2012, 05:48 PM Well TV Land aired a episode of Gloria 10 years ago so i don't consider that bonus too attractive. Buffyboy323 07-18-2012, 05:56 PM I haven't bought this show yet. I see this will have the original two unaired pilots which I have never seen. There is no way I would buy that Norman Lear collection released in 2009. That was a big ripoff. The extras sound good, especially considering there were none at all on the original season releases. The price is $180 on Amazon right now. Hopefully it will go down to $150 (or less!) during the Holiday season. And yes, that Norman Lear collection from a few years ago was a HUGE ripoff. TVFactFan 07-18-2012, 06:01 PM The extras sound good, especially considering there were none at all on the original season releases. I may get the complete set once I start working again and wait until 2013. So I will stop buying the individual seasons TV_Fan 07-18-2012, 06:58 PM This is a slap in the face to all who bought the individual seasons. Shout needs to make the bonus discs available on their own at some point. Other studios have released complete series with bonuses not on the invidividual seasons and then later released those bonuses seperately. I'll bet you Shout! won't do that. Hopefully someone will put them up on ebay or something cause there's no way in hell I'm forking over more money on a series I already own. I have no intentions of buying that set regardless of the UNCUT season 1. I bought all the individual seasons and I;m done Buffyboy323 07-18-2012, 10:48 PM I have 5 seasons right now. It's from Shout!, not Sony, so I have a feeling it really is going to be a great set. Buffyboy323 07-18-2012, 11:01 PM This is a slap in the face to all who bought the individual seasons. Factory got the rights to the series years after Sony abandoned it. I would say Sony slapped us in the face, since they started releasing the show in 2002!! If anything, SHOUT! Factory came and rescued the show. Not only did they release the remaining seasons, they put together what appears to be a great list of extras, as well as the entire series together in one big box set. There are people out there like myself who refused to buy the seasons from Sony because they abandoned it, so it's awesome that the entire series is coming out in one big set. Shout should have just released the spinoffs and interview. It was no need to release the entire set 704Hauser 07-19-2012, 12:00 AM Another fan here who started collecting the individual seasons way back in 2008, I seriously hope they release the bonus features as a separate disc! It does seem pointless to include the Archie Bunker's Place pilot on the complete series set though, considering you can buy the first season of ABP on DVD. It's also a shame there are no bloopers or outtakes on this set - there's got to be some around, surely! No Shout! is slapping fans in the face now since they're the ones releasing the complete series set after releasing the remaining individual seasons. If Shout! had decided to release all the remaining seasons in one shot with the bonus features instead of after three whole seasons it might be a different story. All they're telling fans now is not to buy individual seasons of any of their shows because they might release a better complete series set later. Ron Ron 07-20-2012, 04:23 PM Well I got a response from Shout Factory about releasing the extras on a single disk. Shout Factor: Unfortunately, the extra features will not be sold or available separately, sorry. Ron Ron 07-20-2012, 04:25 PM My Reponse to them: Shout is screwing its loyal customers by not giving us an opportunity of getting the extras on a separate disk sale. TVFactFan 07-20-2012, 07:22 PM My Reponse to them: Shout is screwing its loyal customers by not giving us an opportunity of getting the extras on a separate disk sale. Thanks a lot Shout Factory for once again screwing your former loyal customers. Yeah, I think I'm done buying DVDs from Shout Factory. On one hand they released a lot of great shows that likely wouldn't have been released by anyone else. On the other hand, they released a lot of shows, but didn't finish them like Parker Lewis, Rhoda, The Bill Cosby Show, and Mr. Belvedere. I could go on and on. They always say that lack of sales is the reason. Well why on earth are they releasing a show that is already complete on DVD? I'm sure most of the fans of All in the Family have the entire series on DVD already. I only need the last 2 seasons. Ok, you get a few bonus features, but it's not worth $180 just for the pilots of Gloria and Archie Bunker's Place and the unaired pilots. How do they expect to make a profit on this? I hear that they even plan on fixing the issues with the season 7 set. Why didn't they fix this when the season 7 set was released? Idiots. I hope they go out of business. They can release the bonus fetures from the complete serie sseperately. Hell, even work with Sony and have them release them themselves, even on MOD if need be. But something!!!! They always say "lack of sales" but how many of these companies have either release a season or two then stopped cold, released 4 seasons of a 5 season show then made the complete series available screwing people who bought the first four seasons, or released 2 seasons of a 5 season show then jumping to the complete series screwing customers of the 2 seasons they released? This will eventually hurt them but it also hurts us in being suspicious of starting a series which causes low sales with waiting customers ready to buy but holding back.
