Haven't we seen this type of show before?? howilu 07-09-2012, 12:55 AM Though I don't have any idea on what the show's about, I hope it isn't like the show where the father keeps calling his son a dummy. From the promos, it's a father who is old running a bar and has a son in his 30's. even though they are not black or working in a junkyard, it's still too similar to Sanford and Son Brian Damage 07-09-2012, 12:59 AM From the promos, it's a father who is old running a bar and has a son in his 30's. even though they are not black or working in a junkyard, it's still too similar to Sanford and Son Agreed, even the title sounds waaaay too familiar. I didn't think any network can be this stupid:lol: Brian Damage 07-09-2012, 01:06 AM I didn't think any network can be this stupid:lol: TBS is ready to give it a 90 episode renewal already. lol AKA 07-09-2012, 11:21 PM To be fair, there are several family business--past and present--called "So-and-so and Son(s)." Sanford and Son didn't originate the tradition. You could just as easily say Sullivan and Son is ripping off the 1966 Cat Stevens song, "Matthew and Son." I would find that hard to believe since S&S has had a uninterrupted syndication run for 9 straight years and has aired on two major cable networks....TV Land and TV One yankeesrj12 07-15-2012, 02:26 AM I would find that hard to believe since S&S has had a uninterrupted syndication run for 9 straight years and has aired on two major cable networks....TV Land and TV One Young people tend not to watch TV Land. As a person who is targeted by advertisers, I can tell you none of my friends watch either channel (or much of television anyways). Sanford and Son is basically nothing to someone between the ages of 18 and 26. TVFactFan 07-15-2012, 02:30 AM Young people tend not to watch TV Land. Why not watch it before you complain about something just based on the title? It's more Cheers than Sanford & Son, if anything. Friends and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper were kind of like Three's Company, weren't they? yankeesrj12 07-15-2012, 01:12 PM What about Antenna TV? Friends and Hanging With Mr. Cooper was nothing like Three's Company ThomasE 07-15-2012, 05:51 PM Friends and Hanging With Mr. Cooper was nothing like Three's Company Actually, Hanging with Cooper's premise was much like three's company originally. I remember back in 92 that the show was described as one with aspects of Welcome Back Kotter and three's company. When I first saw the promo, I thought of Three's Company. LOL. Anyway, when I worked with Holly Robinson-Peete on Celebrity Apprentice in 09, she was describing the show (Cooper) like three's company with Mark being Jack, Robin being Janet and her character Vanessa being Chrissy. It's funny because that is how I described them when I was a teen. TVFactFan 07-15-2012, 05:56 PM Actually, Hanging with Cooper's premise was much like three's company originally. I can't remember ThomasE 07-15-2012, 06:00 PM All three of them didn't live together did they? I can't remember Yeah. They did. They all rented a house together. Dawnn Lewis was fired at the end of the season and the show was taken in a new direction with Sandra Quarterman and Raven Symone along with Nell Carter in tow for the second season of the show. Pavan 07-15-2012, 11:35 PM Friends and Hanging With Mr. Cooper was nothing like Three's Company Uh before those shows premiered, all comparisons were to Three's Company from reviewers, critics! Especially Mr. Cooper (two guys and a girl...a klutz, smart girl and a ditz). Friends even makes references to the show. It's "Double Three's Company" (6 instead of 3). Friends or HWMC had rormantic involvement among the characters. Jack on the otherhand was never romantically involved with any of the TC characters And I didn't consider Vanessa a DITZ on HWMC Pavan 07-15-2012, 11:48 PM Friends or HWMC had rormantic involvement among the characters. You're not a TVFactFan. Go watch the first season. That's all I'm talking about...the first season. Sullivan & Son hasn't even premiered yet and you're judging it and calling it Sanford & Son, when it is nothing like that show at all besides the play at the title. The Sullivan Family? The Sullivan Men? why copy a CLASSIC? Pavan 07-16-2012, 12:05 AM The Sullivan Family? Then someone would say it is copying The Hogan Family. You can't win. I remember watching the show and thinking this isn't anything like it. lol Except for the fact that they were all friends, they were nothing alike. I do remember that Cooper was compared to TC. In the reviews it was called a black TC. I didn't really care for Cooper until Robin left. Who would have thought that Raven Simone would have made it better? lol icecream 07-16-2012, 10:48 AM This is weird. I thought Hangin' with Mr. Cooper was a family oriented show? I had never heard it compared to Three's Company before today. As for Sullivan and Son, other than a similar title, I don't think Sanford and Son. I'm planning on trying it because Dan Lauria is in it, and from the descrription and cast photo it reminds me of Cheers. Mr. Television 07-16-2012, 01:25 PM This is weird. I'm planning on trying it because Dan Lauria is in it, and from the descrription and cast photo it reminds me of Cheers. I think it became a more family oriented show after the first season. That's why it was eventually moved to TGIF. It was really only like TC during season 1` because you had two women and a man living together. I don't remember any of those risque jokes like TC often had. Skywalker 07-16-2012, 02:14 PM When I first heard of Sullivan and Son I immediately thought of Sanford and Son. Stupid name for a stupid show and I don't even have to watch it to come to that conclusion, just the fact that it's a TBS original is all I need to know. TVFactFan 07-16-2012, 07:08 PM When I first heard of Sullivan and Son I immediately thought of Sanford and Son.
