From the promos, it's a father who is old running a bar and has a son in his 30's.

even though they are not black or working in a junkyard, it's still too similar to Sanford and Son

To be fair, there are several family business--past and present--called "So-and-so and Son(s)." Sanford and Son didn't originate the tradition. You could just as easily say Sullivan and Son is ripping off the 1966 Cat Stevens song, "Matthew and Son."

I would find that hard to believe since S&S has had a uninterrupted syndication run for 9 straight years and has aired on two major cable networks....TV Land and TV One

Young people tend not to watch TV Land. As a person who is targeted by advertisers, I can tell you none of my friends watch either channel (or much of television anyways). Sanford and Son is basically nothing to someone between the ages of 18 and 26.

What about Antenna TV? It's on that channel too

It hasn't even premiered yet. Why not watch it before you complain about something just based on the title? It's more Cheers than Sanford & Son, if anything. Friends and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper were kind of like Three's Company, weren't they?

Actually, Hanging with Cooper's premise was much like three's company originally. I remember back in 92 that the show was described as one with aspects of Welcome Back Kotter and three's company. When I first saw the promo, I thought of Three's Company. LOL. Anyway, when I worked with Holly Robinson-Peete on Celebrity Apprentice in 09, she was describing the show (Cooper) like three's company with Mark being Jack, Robin being Janet and her character Vanessa being Chrissy. It's funny because that is how I described them when I was a teen.

Yeah. They did. They all rented a house together. Dawnn Lewis was fired at the end of the season and the show was taken in a new direction with Sandra Quarterman and Raven Symone along with Nell Carter in tow for the second season of the show.

You didn't even remember the original set-up of Mr. Cooper, so stop talking lol. You're not a TVFactFan. Go watch the first season. That's all I'm talking about...the first season. Sullivan & Son hasn't even premiered yet and you're judging it and calling it Sanford & Son, when it is nothing like that show at all besides the play at the title.

I remember seeing a few comparisons in the reviews between Friends & TC. I remember watching the show and thinking this isn't anything like it. lol Except for the fact that they were all friends, they were nothing alike. I do remember that Cooper was compared to TC. In the reviews it was called a black TC. I didn't really care for Cooper until Robin left. Who would have thought that Raven Simone would have made it better? lol

I think it became a more family oriented show after the first season. That's why it was eventually moved to TGIF. It was really only like TC during season 1` because you had two women and a man living together. I don't remember any of those risque jokes like TC often had.

When I first heard of Sullivan and Son I immediately thought of Sanford and Son. Stupid name for a stupid show and I don't even have to watch it to come to that conclusion, just the fact that it's a TBS original is all I need to know. :lol:
