I read an article the other day and they referred to "the creepy episode where Malory gets molested" Why can't I remember this episode at all?

It was the 6th episode of the series. It was a friend of Steven's who gave her a kiss on the mouth. If I remember correctly he did it a few times. Mallory at first thought she must have misinterpreted it but she didn't.

It was creepy especially when you realize that Justine Bateman was only 16 at the time. They could never do an episode like that today, not with an underage actress.

The interesting thing is they injected a lot of humor into this "very special" episode, like the whole telethon bit. Family Ties was always good at mixing serious drama and comedy. There aren't too many sitcoms that can do that.

So it was just multiple kisses? Gotcha

Thanks for the update guys! :)

In the episode Uncle Arthur kisses Mallory twice, gives her a hug and pats her on the bottom. What he did was definitely inappropriate.

It is kind of uncomfortable when you consider that the actor portraying Arthur really had to DO those things, though. Obviously it was discussed beforehand, but I can't imagine being that actor and having to kiss an underage girl.

I do remember watching that episode, and it was well done, I must admit.

I agree, and I'd submit that there are currently NO sitcoms airing that ever even try to mix the two. Most of them are just "one two three...joke!" over and over, with no real poignancy or serious undertones at all. Yet another thing I miss about the classic comedies. They were first and foremost, comedies, but they had characters that you cared about enough to follow into dramatic turns at times. I cannot say the same about any modern shows.

Elyse and Steven confront Arthur towward the end of the episode. At one point Steven says, "Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you."

Steven doesn't hit Arthur, but Elyse does shake him and at one point pushes him off the chair he was sitting in.

You're welcome. There is also a scene in the episode where Mallory tells Elyse what Arthur did. Mallory cries at one point.

Yea I remember that. FT did indeed combine drama and comedy very well. I always thought it was the best sitcom of the 1980's. I still do. :)

Yeah, family ties was one of the greatest shows ever.It did a great job of being funny. But at the same time. Also a great drama. That delt with a variety of different issues.I remember when Alex's friend died and, he saw a psychiatrist. That was a very serious episode. My bro heard me watching it a little bit ago.And he was like since when was family ties so serious? But really it was.It wasn't just funny. It delt with many issues. That's the thing about the sitcoms in the 80s and 90s.They always taught great lessons. And at the same time. They we're very funny.Another episode i remember as being one of my fav. Both Steven and Elyse decked Alex's teacher:lol:And let me just say if anybody deserved it.It was that guy.

Yeah,i saw it a long time ago.During it's orignal run. Then i just saw it recently. When i borrowed the dvd, from the library.Very funny! They kept trying to appologize. But just couldn't manage. To be around the guy. With out wanting to knock him into next week.In the end, when they invited him to the house.I think it was Alex that threw him out.He was complaining that he had already had chicken.

I honestly cannot remember the last sitcom to mix comedy with drama well, it's been so long.

The Mr. Tedesco episode is one of my favorites. The strange thing is in "Give Your Uncle Arthur a Kiss" Uncle Arthur is a total creep to Steven's daughter yet he doesn't hit him, but in the "Mr. Tedesco" episode, Mr. Tedesco makes a couple of stupid remarks about Steven's wife and he decks him.

Even Alex was tempted to hit him at the end of that episode. It was funny seeing this very tall man afraid of a high school kid who was about a foot smaller than he was.

Maybe different writers with different takes on the characters? Yeah, I have to say, if I had to hit a guy who kissed my teenage daughter or a guy who made some dumb cracks about my wife, the first guy is goin' down.

And I agree with Sonny that Family Ties was the best sitcom of the 80's. Honestly (and I know there's a lot who will disagree) but I don't see any of the others even coming close.

Yeah,i agree with you guys.I would of for sure hit the pervert. But the thing was.Is i think him and Steven we're like best friends for years and he had always been a uncle to the kids and stuff. So,they kind of just threatened him.Let him appologize and told him to hit the bricks. If i remember right.Didn't the Arthur episode happen in the first season?

I loved that part. See that's what I loved about that show. They didn't agree with each other politically but in the end they were family who looked out for each other. The Keatons were one of the best tv families of all time. :)

Yes, the Give Uncle Arthur A Kiss episode was in the first season. The Harder They Fall episode (with Mr. Tedesco) was in season 2.
