Here's Mine...

Riding Off into the Sunset, Part 1
Riding Off into the Sunset, Part 2

A woman, Marlo, is visiting New York City. She lives in Ohio. Anyways, Alex picks her up in his cab one evening and they have a wonderful talk. We cut to three weeks later. They are very much in love. She’s stayed way past the time she planned to but just couldn’t leave Alex. He proposes to her. She accepts. Wanting to stay close to her family, Marlo asks Alex to move back to Ohio with her. He agrees to and plans to get a job as a waiter.

Louie is made the new owner of the Sunshine Cab Company, due to the sudden passing of Mr. Ratlidge. Louie has to decide on who the new dispatcher will be. He eventually chooses Jeff.

As Alex prepares to leave the garage for good and Louie prepares to move upstairs, they have a little gathering at Jim's Mario's. The actual farewell scene takes place in the garage. Alex says his goodbyes to Tony, Elaine, Jim, Latka, Simka, Jeff and Louie and then walks out. Louie walks up the stairs. Jeff, now the dispatcher, calls out the names of the cabbies, assigning them cabs.

I didn’t want this to be an episode where something happens to everyone all at once. That doesn’t seem like an ending “Taxi” would have. As it turns out, in some of the final episodes big things happened to the cabbies, anyways. Tony got a woman pregnant and gets engaged to her, Elaine finds a man she plans to stay with, Louie even gets a girlfriend (the woman who was blind and had the surgery), Latka and Simka mention wanting to start a family. Jim has bought and runs Mario’s.

What's your idea for the series finale?

I don't know if this is just me or not, but I think somehow, Alex and Elaine should have been the two getting engaged. I liked those two together, and that ending would have made me happy.
