It probably would have ruined the show. And it isn't a great basis for spin-offs either. Think Andy Taylor marrying Helen Crump. Grady Wilson marrying ol' Deputy Dog. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Fred's best bet was Donna, but she was too "good" for him. I liked Donna, but Fred would have been better off with Evelyn from the sitcom, "Sanford" Not because she was well offf, but her personality was more compatible with Fred's.

Well lets face it people Fred G Sanford dident really have a chance with a good looking woman like donna who was a nurse and had men at her job hitting on her everyday she looked like she had money and was somewhat middleclass who could date a big strong wealthy man with money, fred was a poor black man living in watts who did not make much money having a junkyard business he would not be able to take care of donna by himself lamont was his slave he did all the work while his father stayed home and watched tv and called him dummy everyday of his life for no reason in the world lol.

But Andy and Helen did get married in an episode of "Mayberry RFD" and moved to Cleveland where Andy had a job as postal inspector. Then, when the absolute gem-of-a-made-for-TV-movie "Return to Mayberry" came out in 1986, they were still happily married, and it only added to the wonderful charm and appeal of the movie, which is still dearly loved by Andy fans today. I think you are right, however, in your assessment that the marriage may not have been such a good idea on a week-in, week-out basis. But is was great the way things worked out in the later years!
