JJ was funny at times but after awhile it got really annoying he was always saying dynomite, harrassing thelma for no reason, always interrupting when james and florida were having a personal conversation, JJ constantly got himself into trouble with gangs, thugs, gambling the only good thing he ever did in his life was paint pictures of things and people which eventually got him and his family out of the ghetto, could the show have lasted 6 years without the character JJ ?

Me personally, I think it could have. JJ to me was hit or miss. From a marketing perspective, he was the show, and that's what the producers and writers pushed. But I watched the show for James and the realistic storylines (and Thelma lol) But yeah, it could have worked with Jimmie walker

Looking back at the show, the best years were with James. The show lost alot when he left. But Jimmie was the one who brought in the young people and made the show a hit. If he would have left instead of James, ratings would have fallen a lot faster.

That would have meant Bookman would have needed to be seen more because James would not have anyone to clown anymore.

I wonder what James would have though of Thelma's stupid husband Keith. I couldn't stand that guy.

He did deserve a smack. And I doubt James would have let JJ pay for that fool's wedding.
