Just saw this on the local news in Nashville. He requested to be buried as quick as possible after his death. He was buried yesterday at 11 am, 4 hours after he died. Why so quickly, I have no idea. There will be a memorial for him soon, but it will not be open to the public.

He might have also requested not to be embalmed and if so, the body has to be buried almost immediately after death.

Many people do not wish to have their body on display, depending on religion and personal beliefs. They would rather be buried or cremated asap so people don't remember you by a lifeless corpse. Also, it's possible he didn't want his body to be a public spectacle like many celebrity deaths.

My Grandpa and my Uncle who just passed. Both requested the samething. When we went to there funeral .They we're already burried.I prefer it that way.Too me it is so much sadder. When it's a open casket.

Being a big icon as he was, maybe he was afraid someone would try an steal his body or something.

I doubt it, the only celebrity that I'm aware of whose grave was robbed was Charlie Chaplin's in 1978. Also, the location of the grave is known only to a few select people that Andy obviously trusted.

Andy was a very religious man.I am sure he was just eager to get home.

The afterlife would most-likely happen at the moment of death and not after you're buried.

Didn't someone try to rob the grave of one of the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd ?

I am already well aware of that my friend.I just meant he wanted his body in the ground. So'it would be laid to rest. That's the way it should be.

No, you said...

Andy was a very religious man.I am sure he was just eager to get home.

Eager to get home obviously meant heaven and being buried within a few hours, a few days or not at all isn't going to make any difference.

I'm not disappointed because I'm not wrong, you stated one thing in one post and something totally different in the next. Being laid to rest and going home are not the same thing. If you don't want people to argue with you then try to get your facts straight before posting. You're wrong here and you were wrong about Picket Fences being a cop show. If it were then you might as well call The Andy Griffith Show one also because it also had a Sheriff as the main character.

I believe someone tried to unearth Ronnie Van Zant, but may be wrong.

W'E BUDDY!i am actually right about both things. And i really couldn't care less what you think about that.Is there a way that i can block you and tv guy.Cus you guys are a major downer.Picket fences is a cop show along with also being a drama.A show can be both. And Andy wanted his body in the ground. So'he could return home to peace with God.Yes'he would of returned home either way.But that's really not the point of what i was saying.I realize you can't stand for somebody to know what they are talking about and, you can't stand the fact you can't change my mind.

I remember something similar happened in 1987 when Liberace assumed room temperature. It turned out he (and/or his relatives) didn't want the world to know he died of a certain disease...

I really can't believe that you would just pick an argument with me.About something like that.It couldn't be any more obvious. What i was trying to say. It's a well known fact Andy was a christian.Christians believe there bodies should be burried. As soon as possible after there deaths. You are supposed to be a moderator not a instagator.

Every time i say something. You don't agree with. You try to pass off your opinion as being a fact. It's not any more than mine is.

Moderator, yes but not on this forum and I'm not trying to instigate anything. I simply read what you posted as 2 completely different things.

Andy may have wanted buried early because the Westboro "church" was planning to picket his funeral.

Yeah, once again all i was saying is that Andy wanted his body burried.Andy just wanted to go back home to heaven where he belongs.I just thought Zone was being kind of a jerk by nit picking what i was saying.Of course anybody wants there body laid to rest as quickly as possible.I know i do.Not that it matters either way.We will all go to heaven regardless.

He was buried according to his wishes. The media, as usual, is making a mountain out of a molehill. Not all celebrities want a massive public funeral and burial and it kind of makes sense with him because he was never one to always crave the spotlight.

I respect his wishes and can understand that he didn't want his funeral turned into a circus the way it can be with the media.
Funeral's are for the living anyway, our time to say goodbye and his family deserved to be able to do that in private.

God bless him, may he RIP.
