I've read a few articles where Ozzie was very difficult to work with because he was such a perfectionist. He actually would re-edit reuns of 'Ozzie & Harriet'. Was all this true? Was he difficult to work with?

My impressions from the bios on Rick Nelson led me to believe that Ozzie was a very firm, but fair, taskmaster. Not always open to new approaches, there seemed to be a fair amount of "it's my way or the highway." On the other hand, he took responsibility for his decisions, good or bad (and they were MOSTLY) good, without playing the blame game. He's been fondly remembered by many who worked for him, implying he knew how to lead well. So in his case, ruling with a strong hand does not appear to have had overtly negative qualities.

I would imagine he would have been hard to work with if challenged. But why do that? History has shown his propensity for making strategic decisions, across a wide spectrum, regarding the show and others' careers.

Skip Young summed up Ozzie as follows: The easiest man to work with, the hardest man to work for. From what I've read, Skip was not overly fond of Ozzie.
