Exclusive: Tom Cruise Forbade Katie Holmes From Doing "Dawson's Creek" Reunion
July 3, 2012
By Zach Johnson

Audiences first fell in love with Katie Holmes as girl-next-door Joey Potter on "Dawson's Creek", a role she relished for six seasons. But when Holmes was approached about possibly reuniting with her former costars James Van Der Beek, 35, and Joshua Jackson, 34, the actress' husband, Tom Cruise, 49, nixed the idea.

"Producers were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie," a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly (out now). "Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad."

Holmes, on the other hand, "didn't care how 'low-brow' he thinks 'Dawson's Creek' is," the source adds. "She wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun -- something she rarely does anymore."

(In a November 2011 appearance on "Good Morning America", Holmes said a reunion movie "would be fun. I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories.")

OMG, that is completely ridiculous! He's her husband for God's sake (Well for now anyway), and he should support her. So what if she wants to do a reunion movie? What does he care if she wants to reconnect with her past? I'm sure there are PLENTY of career moves in Tom's past that aren't his fondest memories. No wonder she's divorcing him.

I guess this means that Tom won't be doing a reunion with Brooke Shields and the cast of Endless Love. lol

Tom Cruise is an idiot. :ohno:

After three failed marriages, you would think Mr. Cruise would learn a lesson about not being such a narcissistic control freak. Guess a leopard never changes its spots, so I feel bad for any future Mrs. Cruise's out there...

His couch jumping pissed Christopher Nolan off and she got recast for The Dark Knight.

Did he derail her acting career on purpose?

Would it shock you? Try to give Cruise the benefit of the doubt but he comes off weird. Btw, if Holmes didnt do Dawson's Creek you probably would have never heard of her, thus Cruise wouldnt have met her or married her. And HE forbade her to do the reunion. Stay classy.

7. Katie Holmes (http://www.fame10.com/entertainment/9-actresses-who-were-supposed-to-make-it-big-but-didnt/)

Back in 1998, when Katie Holmes’ (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/7750-future-of-movie-stars-who-will-shine-who-will-fade-away/page-10#entry767209) caught the world’s attention as the beautiful but lonely Joey Potter on “Dawson’s Creek,” she was instantly dubbed the “It Girl.” She was everywhere – on the cover of magazines including Seventeen, TV Guide and Rolling Stone and in movies like “Disturbing Behavior,” “Go” and “Wonder Boys.” Much like other “It Girls” on our list, Holmes didn’t really capitalize on her early success. After she landed the part of Rachel Dawes in “Batman Begins,” she married Tom Cruise (http://www.fame10.com/entertainment/7-celebrities-whose-careers-were-derailed-because-of-relationships/2/) and took a break from acting. It’s safe to say that her career will never be what it once was.

I think for Katie Holmes, it was a combination of being drawn in by the money, Tom Cruise's charisma, and the benefits it could have for her career. But then it just imploded and she wasn't invited back to the Batman sequel because public opinion of her had dropped.
