The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda could still work on network tv today and be successful, while Phyllis could never work because of the dreaded 18-35 demographic. Phyllis had too many older characters that it just wouldn't work. The same could be said about The Ropers. Another show that could never work today. Agree? Disagree?

I say it wouldn't work due its lameless rather than the age range of its cast.

I read somewhere that CBS knew immediately from the pilot episode that this show wasn't going to be that good and not in the league of MTM productions. The only reason it got a 2nd season was because it was sandwiched between Rhoda and All in the Family. Not sure how true that is, but interesting.

Yes I don't think a show with multiple seniors would hold my attention for too long.

They also mucked about too much with Phyllis in season2,changing jobs,no Julie or Leo,I think Phyllis picked up again,I liked Bess marrying Mark and expecting a baby.

Rhoda got mucked about too but I did enjoy the first three seasons.

I still would like to know what led to so many changes after season 1 when the show finished in the top 10
