After 'WKRP' was canceled, Gary was offered several tv roles which he turned down and instead, returned to theater work. He said he didn't want to be tied down to just one particular character any more. Smart move or do you wish he would've taken his career into new roles?

I think it's better to be happy and enjoy what you do than to be bored and miserable no matter how big the paycheck is. So I think Gary definitely made the right choice returning to the theater.

That's an excellent post Marv and so true. I gave up a lucrative job in construction because I was miserable and took a job in broadcasting. lol I wonder what his career might have been like if he had stuck on TV?

Well, I think they were bringing back WKRP for fall of 1982. After the success of the summer reruns and by that time imwas too late. He, Howard Hesseman, and Loni Anderson all lined up for other projects by then. So, I woud say no. Had he stayed with TV, he would have had a chance to go back to KRP and t would have sated longer.
