I remember two pieces of advice i got a as a child that I still heed to today as an adult.

Advice 1: "Taking medicine when you're not sick will make you sick."

Advice 2: "Letting go of the safety bars on amusement park rides will make you fall off the ride and die."

Look people in the eye when you are talking to them.

I still dont take candy from strangers.

Going to the bathroom before leaving home.(My dad's rule especially) I still do that whether I feel the urge or not!

Always wear clean underwear. Nobody likes skid marks!

Yes it is good manners to look people in the eye when talking for it gives the listener the feeling that you are interested in what you and they are saying. Sad to say I only do it about 20% of the time. Eye contact isn't a strong point for me.

Watch how you treat people because you never know from whom you may need a favor from.
