I gave this thread the title that I did as a form of an experiment. I wanted to see if the shock value of the title might insprire people to respond to the topic in which I am writing. Lord knows, I have tried every other trick in the book to stimulate some conversation about this fine series! In any case, those of you who have been around here for a while know that I am very fond of the first season episode "Samantha's Protest". The thing about the episode that I like most has to do with the secondary plot of Katie's fruitless efforts to get the handsome boy from the protest to notice her. I really enjoy the poetic justice of Samantha getting a date with the boy after Katie flurts her butt off! I thought it served Katie right for using the protest inappropraitly and for thinking that she was such a sex kitten! My favorite scene from this episode takes place at the protest itself. When Nell and all of the girls become part of the protest, Nell takes Samantha's arm and commands all of the protesters to lock arms. Julie is on the other side of Samantha and obligingly takes Samantha's other arm. At this point, Katie is standing in between Julie and the boy that she likes. Katie attempts to capatilize on what Nell says by grabbing both of the boy's arms with both of her's. She then positions her body so that her bosoms are pressed against the boy's upper body and her crotch is learning against his leg. At this point the laugh track goes on. Katie's pleasure lasts about three seconds before Julie uses her free arm to grab one of Katie's arms and spin her around so she only has one arm in contact with the boy and she is facing in the same direction as the other protesters. She then looks over Samantha's head and says to Nell, "that is absolutely disguesting"! I was fourteen years old when this episode first aired. Even then I could appreciate that, in the mind of a decent girl like Julie, Katie's crotch should have been facing in the same direction and the crotches as all of the other protesters and Katie's arms should have been positioned in the same respectable manner as the arms of everyone else! Good for her!
