"Friends" Comes to Blu-ray!

Ross. Monica. Phoebe. They'll be there for you again and in a remastered glory when Warner Bros. Home Video releases Friends: The Complete Series on Blu-ray for the first time this November.

The massive set boasts all 236 episodes, over 17 hours of special features (including three hours of new extras not available on the DVD full-series collection) and a comprehensive 32-page episode guide that maps out all 10 seasons of the NBC sitcom, from Rachel's botched wedding to Barry all the way up to the gang's last cup of coffee at Central Perk.

This ultimate collector's set for the ultimate fan features over 110 hours of content - including all 236 original broadcast episodes released for the first time in the US, plus 20 hours of special features including over three hours of newly-added special features.



New content includes a retrospective documentary with new interviews looking back at the influential 10 years of the series, never-before-released cast appearances, unaired footage, a new gag reel and more!

All 10 seasons have been completely remastered in stunning 1080p high definition video with a 16x9 widescreen format and 5.1 audio. Questions About Episode Versions Answered

We've had a few readers email us to double-check exactly what episodes would be on the new Blu-ray set.

The press release mentions "all 236 original broadcast episodes released for the first time in the US," but fans weren't sure whether these mean "as aired on TV," or the extended cuts that previously appeared on DVD.



We double-checked with Warner Home Video and confirmed that these are the NBC broadcast versions, not the extended episodes. The extended cuts were special versions created for the DVDs and no longer exist in a form that could be used for a Blu-ray release.

The good news is that you'll have the original broadcast cuts in HD (on Blu-ray), and the extended cuts in SD (on DVD).

I really wish the WB would've made some effort to include the extended cuts. Because of that, I am going to have to pass on this release, unfortunately. It would be very nice to own these in widescreen HD, but I would much rather own the extended versions of these episodes.
