Everybody loves Ray Romano — maybe even Sarah Braverman.
The Men of a Certain Age alum has booked a multi-episode arc in Parenthood‘s upcoming fourth season, playing a photographer who takes an interest in Lauren Graham’s perpetually conflicted leading lady.

As TVLine previously reported, Jason Ritter is set to return to the NBC drama as Sarah’s maybe-fiancé, so expect the latter’s friendship with Romano’s photog to complicate things.

Romano makes his Parenthood debut in the Season 4 premiere, which bows Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 10/9c.

Sneak Peek: Ray Romano on "Parenthood"

by Ingela Ratledge

Everybody loves Raymond...especially "Parenthood" exec producer Jason Katims, who created the role of Hank, a photographer, for Ray Romano. Hank is "a man of few words who can be a bit of a grouch," Katims says.

When he hires Sarah (Lauren Graham, with Romano) as his assistant, it could spell trouble for her relationship with younger boyfriend Mark. "Sarah relates to Hank in ways she can't to Mark," adds Katims.

Of course Romano, who will appear in at least five episodes of the NBC drama starting with the September 11 premiere, will also bring the funny.

"Ray is such a great comedian, it wouldn't make sense not to lean into that a little."

Hi, all. So glad for the chance to rave about Ray Romano on Parenthood. Such a good idea. AND, after the kiss, you start to root for him and Sarah even though you like Mark in a general way. You want Ray to win because he needs Sarah more and in a way, Sarah could become more of a woman with a MAN like Ray. They have more in common and he is a bit more solid than Mark. Mark is an admirable guy but Ray just brings the complexity and gravity that makes a man mysterious and alluring and vulnerable all at once. Great job, production. LUV RAY ON PARENTHOOD!!!!
