sanford and son is still a classic for a show thats about 40 years old is a legend redd foxx new what can make people roll on the floor laughing for hours i always thought season 1 was the most realistic then the other seasons because lamont looked like a crazy black man that beats up his father he had a bad additude he was bossy towards fred and nice to his friends and family members lol, seems like fred and lamont are two lonely men forced to be in a junk bussinese together because they have no education and no women to support them its sad lamont is a 32 year old single lonely guy with no kids, no wife, few friends , he looks depressed, he blames his father for how bad his life turned out and his father still cooks his food, he also cant have privacy at home with women, he is still dating like he is a teenager, and lena horn thinks he is lame lol, fred is just like lamont but is lazy he spends most of his day at home cooking food and watching tv and getting himself and his son into trouble he also lonely he has no woman lol, fred eventually falls in love with donna becomes a happy man, lamont is lame untill he meets janet in the last season and they both fall in love he suddenly mr nice guy to his father, would the show have worked out if Lamont and Fred were married in the beginning of the show ?

Your first post on this board and it's the dumbest post I ever seen. Since when does not being married with kids mean you are lonely:confused:

well just put more thought into your threads because it has been a few that made no sense at all. And if a person constantly starts stupid thread topics they start to look like a fool.

Like when you posted on the different strokes board that willis was a wimp.

I'm all for fun topics but just think before you post.

And PLEASE put some periods or some type of punctuation in these diatribes. I quit reading your first post because without punctuation it is impossible to follow. I am for everyone posting to discuss different topics and points of view, but come on! Using a few codes of grammar and punctuation will go a long way towards getting people to read these things and accept and respond to your ideas.

Solomon does like to mess with new people and intimidate them. (Solomon, don't take it personally)

But anyway back on topic, yes especially the first season when it really focused on the two, they were perceived to be loners. We hardly saw any of their friends except Melvin and Bubba.

would the show have worked out if Lamont and Fred were married in the beginning of the show ?

I think Redd Foxx especially and Demond Wilson made the show. Had they been married, it is likely Fred and his wife would have been the stars and Lamont and his wife secondary. I liked the interactions and focus being Fred and Lamont. Many of the story lines couldn't have been used either as they focused on Fred not being included in Lamont's social events or involved Fred or Lamont looking for love.

That is not to say it couldn't have worked out having two couples as the main stars. I Love Lucy sure did! But I think the show was best just as it was.

If you are NEW and posting a lot of crazy sh*t then yes I do challenge the poster to explain

If you are NEW and posting interesting topics then I welcome you to the board and encourage you to post more. I actually found someone like that on the Good Times board a month ago, welcomed the poster to post more because I enjoyed their topics and the person never came back:lol:

Hopefully the NUT who started this thread will go away and never come back

when i first saw this topic, I read it too fast and thought it said:

"FRED AND LAMONT ARE LOVERS"

...and I could see why that would spark up some controversy.

Well, isn't there a more polite way of disagreeing with someone than calling him a name and hoping he never comes back?

Seriously, I was under the impression that calling someone a name was a violation of forum rules. Let's just take a breath and try to find a way to disagree with someone without being so nasty.

I disagree totally that Lamont was lonely. He has Rollo and Julio as buddies. At the end of the last season, Lamont was engaged to be married. He had a life outside the house. Part of Lamont's lamentation was that he wanted to better himself but really could not do that. Plus, he is very attached to his father.

Fred has lots of friends, grady, Bubba, Skillet, the pool hall guys, Goldberg the junkman, the black and white cops and then Donna. Fred also dated a lot of other women. But he was attached to his son and did not want him to leave. That is the conflict, not that they were lonely, but that they could not live without each other.

I think in the begining we see Lamont as kinda a jerk, BUT as the series goes on, I think most ppl become more sympathetic with him b/c we see what he has to live with, I mean how would you like to live with someone who constantly put you down, belittled all your dreams, and you work like a fool to support them and they show no gratitude for it.

In the earliest episodes Lamont was meaner. He even shoved Fred in the first episode IIRC. They toned him down quickly and he became more likable. As the series continued, the characters developed and Fred and Lamont were more on an even keel.

I can defintily see why Lamont acted the way he did though.

In the second episode about Fred's birthdaym where Lamont takes Fred to all those places and all Fred does in COMPLAIN, it was a funny episode, but if this were happening in real life it would be SO infuriating and frustrating. I mean if someone thought enough of me to take me out like that to PRETTY expensive places like that, I would at least pretend to enjoy it even if I didn't.

I had a grandpa who was kinda this way, like if you'd buy him a gift, first thing he'd do is turn it upside down, look at the tag and read outloud, "Made in China!" It makes you feel like going off on them lol

Fred was unappreciative on "their night on the town" (Fred did like the hat, though:) But, Lamont should have known that his dad and the type of things that Fred liked. Lamont should not have been surprised that Fred didn't like the film Fiddler on The Roof, and that Chinese food wouldn't be Fred's first choice and even Lamont's choice of the bar,, maybe Lamont could have found one more Fred's speed. But if Lamont have done that, then it wouldn't have been funny.

Lamont should not have been surprised that Fred didn't like the film Fiddler on The Roof, and that Chinese food wouldn't be Fred's fist choice and even Lamont's choice of the bar,, maybe Lamont could have found one more Fred's speed.

You point out one of the inconsistencies of the show. Fred didn't like Chinese food per the second episode, yet throughout the series there are a number of times when Fred and Lamont plan to go to Chinatown to celebrate something.

I think Lamont just wanted to take Fred out in style for once, and to give him a different experience for his b-day.

That reminds me of an inconsistency on Mama's Family and the Carol Burnett Show Family Sketch.

In one Family Sketch, there is a similar situation, where they are having Chinese food and Mama does nothing but COMPLAIN about it, and acts as though she's never had it and knows nothing about it, and mentions having a friend who went into a Chinese restaurant and never came back out.

Yet on Mama's Family they eat Chinese food quite a bit and Mama speaks about the dishes like she's quite an expert lol

How about when Fred and Achoo opened their own Chinese restraunt out of the house.

How about when Fred and Achoo opened their own Chinese restraunt out of the house.

Well it was a Japanese restaurant actually, Fred didn't want to eat the Japanese food but when he tried it he LIKED it.

That's another inconsistency, sometimes Achoo is Chinese and sometimes he's Japanese. lol I know the actor is Japanese and he was Japanese in that particular episode you mentioned, but I think usually he was said to be Chinese.
