What about Jason Alexander, who played Jerry’s neurotic best pal, George Costanza? You might see Alexander when he makes a guest appearance on the latest series of Two And A Half Men, but you may not recognize him. Since late last year, the balding actor has been sporting a brand new head of hair, which makes him look somewhat different to the loveable, venal cad we know from Seinfeld.

He says he made the change for “professional and practical reasons”: his receding hair had begun to look “dorky”, and he didn’t want to be always cast as the funny bald guy. “I started balding at age 17,” he says. “I was always cast older than my actual age, which generally meant better roles. But most recently, the look lost any kind of impression other than purely comical.”

Rather than shave his head, which might further “limit my castability”, or go for permanent implants, which might lose him the bald guy gigs, he settled on a semi-permanent hairpiece. “It’s honestly no big deal for me and I hope it’s not for you either,” he says.

That's what i'm saying.Elaine needs to rip those implants out of his head and throw them out of the window, flush them down the toilet,Do something with them.It makes him look ridicoulas and where are his glasses.

This is just a lame attempt to seperate himself from his most famous role. (George Costanza) Mr. Alexander, it's talent that gets you roles not hair!!!

Good for him! So many actors wear hairpieces and even some actresses wear wigs so this is no big deal.

I think he looks good.

Fortunately, I have a full head of hair I will have until I die. If I were bald and had the money, I would have a hairpiece or implants or something. I get annoyed at people who make fun of bald men doing this. It's like the bald man is a liar and is untrue to himself and no one gives him any respect.

I just simply think he looks better bald with glasses. It's like he's embarrased to be who he really is and that's sad.George is one of my fav charechtors ever.I can't figure out for the life of me.Why he would want to change that.

i don't think its a big deal - if it gets him more work then good for him

what's the difference between this and actors/actresses getting boob-jobs, nose-jobs or facelifts?

I also forgot to add, to comment on the picture in the OP's post.

"George, I mean Jason, sorry. You are not the 99%. You are the 1%.

I know this would never happen but I wish that George Costanza could just have his own series because he was the funny one, not Seinfeld!

I would of loved to see George get his own show.It could of worked a spin off the Costanzas. Get Jerry Stiller and Georges mom from Seinfeld. That would be great!

To respectfully argue, I don't think that having a "hair job" means that someone is embarrassed of their natural look, or that they are being deceptive.

Thankfully, I have lots of hair and will have my hair (more than likely, unless I get chemo or alopecia) for the rest of my life. I would HATE being bald. I'm ugly as it is.

Some people look good bald. Most look 10 years older and weak.

Maybe it doesn't.But the fact remains i don't think he looks good with hair at all.I think he would of been a lot better off.The way it was.And i have plenty of hair myself. But Jason he's just not meant to have it.

I am a huge Jason Alexander fan too.It is a shame that he is not the star of his own show right now.

The hair does not look natural. He still looks like a bald guy with a thing on his head. Maybe he needs to invest in a better hair stylist.

I think he looks fine either way and I do agree that it's his talent that gets him the roles that he plays. But maybe he did this b/c he wants to feel better about himself, so it's not that big of a deal. From reading his tweets on twitter, it doesn't sound like he's really hurting for work that much.

Personally, I'd say it's a slow news day, lol.
