So, we received a review copy of Night Court - The Complete Sixth Season yesterday without even knowing it was scheduled for release so soon, with a note that Warner Archive would be selling it beginning June 26th... read more on our blog (http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2012/06/digital-digest-season-six-of-night.html).
We were kind of surprised to see it just show up as a review copy with no announcement, but it is a good kind of surprise! And as you'll also read in the blog (regarding Warner Archive using pressed DVDs instead of DVD-Rs for early runs of multidisc titles), it seems that this set is a pressed set and not a DVD-R as well. Pavan should have a review of it soon, as he is the one who received it and will be reviewing it.
EDIT: Fixed link!

So will season 4 and 5 also get pressed DVDs or just early run on Season 6.

Most likely we won't see seasons 4 and 5 as pressed DVDs. The model which they seem to be adapting to is pressed DVDs for multidisc new releases when they first come out, most likely because those take more effort to put together as each and every order comes in... having a stockpile of these DVDs ready to ship at the time when they receive the most orders (which would be as soon as it begins selling) makes their business operations a lot smoother. From what I've heard, the single disc DVDs which they are releasing are still coming in the DVD-R format (as it isn't as difficult to put one of those together "on the fly").
This does bring up another issue: what happens when you buy these same DVDs on other websites which Warner Archive affiliates with, such as amazon.com? I don't know if you would also get pressed DVDs from ANY of the orders on there, but my guess would be that you would NOT, since amazon.com is handling the entire process (as far as I know, anyway). It is unfortunate, really, because you're not really getting a choice as to which one you'll get and are at the mercy of what is available when you order it. My guess would be that if you order early (once it is made available, that is) from Warner Archive, you'll get the pressed DVDs for season 6, but how early do you have to be? The day it is released? Within one week? One month? Six months? We just don't know, and that is unfortunate.
