OH Nuts!

The first, one you ABSOLUTELY HATED but which nevertheless became a big hit.
The second, a song YOU JUST LOVED but it was only a regional hit, or had a minor success nationwide.
My first is Little Green Apples. I ABSOLUTELY HATED this song. I thought it was one of the most cloying syrupy and sappy songs I've ever heard. And yet O. C. Smith's version went to #2 nationally.
On the other side of the coin, there was this lovely song called Sugar and Spice (covered by two gps very nicely - The Searchers and Cryan Shame). I loved the Cryan Shames version (I thought they had wonderful melody) - while the group was very popular in Chicago -and the song did well there, it only peaked at #49 nationally. Pun intended, I always thought it was a crying shame this talented group never struck gold nationally.
Name yours!
