I just read Lisa Whechels book,Friendship for grown ups.It was a good read. And i have experenced some of her same problems in finding true friends. They are few and far between. The book is very personal. You really get to know Lisa in this book and, It has a lot of helpful ideas in it,On how to make and keep real friends. One of the things it talks about. Is how to know if somebody is a safe friend. If a friend gossips to you about somebody else.It can be a sign,That they might also gossip. About you or tell other people. The things that you tell them in confidence. It also talks about how even if someone is doing negative things. You,don't have to talk bad about them. But rather focus on there possitives and build people up.Because that is a real friend. They love you good or bad.And they don't say bad things about you.Ive done this myself and, Even now i'm trying to not do it any more. When a friend does something wrong.I try to pray for them,Instead of criticizing them.

I understand that the book is entitled "Friendship For Grown Ups" but in interviews that I've seen Lisa promoting the book she mentions she even had trouble making friends during her youth which I found odd. The reason being is there are numerous accounts of how tight the cast of the NMMC was (Lisa, Julie, Todd Turquand etc.) were. I guess it's all relative to whom is relaying the information I suppose.

No you are right. She did have trouble at all ages meeting friends. But not in the way where she didn't have friends. She had friends just not many real ones.It was because she never really opened up to people though.Because she didn't trust anybody. But she did say in the book Nancy is her best friend even though. They don't get to see each other all the time.
