While I remember "A Touch of Grace", I don't recall anyone from "Hazel" guesting on the show. The premise (based on a British sitcom developed by Norman Lear) had Grace as an older woman living with her daughter and son-in-law (played by Marian Mercer and Warren Berlinger). The conflict in the show began when Grace started dating a grave-digger (J. Pat O'Malley) to the disapproval of her strait-laced daughter. This show ran for 13 weeks in the latter part of the 1972-73 season, and was, like "Hazel", enhanced by Shirley Booth's great acting talent. The final episode had O'Malley's character propose marriage, and, as I recall, it was quite touching. I believe there were some issues as to the ownership of the rights to this series that precluded adding episodes to the "Hazel" DVDs. The cost of obtaining such rights would be greater than probable sales of a 13 episode series that would be remembered or purchased by few. (I'd like to see a "complete series" release, but I won't hold my breath).

Funny little show. Tough competition on Saturday nights against the CBS comedy line-up. UCLA has the debut episode.

I have one small memory of this show from when I was a kid. Booth sang a song on an episode. I remember her singing, " Oh don't you know, you're never too old for love? Believe it too because I'm so in love with you."

Was this filmed or videotaped?

I think it was videotaped. Although all I remember of it was J. Pat O'Malley trying always to woo Grace, and the 2 sitting on a park bench. Yes, that would be great if the pilot could be included as an extra on Hazel season 5.

The show survived as ABC donated all of the 2-inch master tapes to UCLA. I watched the pilot there a couple of years ago and I had never seen the show before. I have to say that I thought it was hysterical. Very, very funny show. Not even sure who has the ownership of it. Too bad it likely won't ever be seen again.

I would love to see this one, it's a shame it hasn't been released on VHS or DVD.
